Post your first graphics card(s) or your most favourite one(s) you owned - Page 7

My first card was an old ATI Rage 128. Most memorable ones are my ATI Radeon 9200 and my Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT. Out of all of them, i still have the Rage Pro and the Radeon 9200. Had to sell my 9400 GT, but it was a beast of a card. Oldest one i own is a Cirrus Logic card with 512 bytes of VRAM, expandible to 2 MB. Current favorite are my dual 450's.

My very first one was S3 Savage 3D with 8MB RAM that I got for my Pentium II Klamath 350MHz (OCed to ~390MHz) in 1998

338

Gave me lots of headaches as It needed custom drivers in order to run the newer DX8.1 games and I eventually replaced it with a RIVA TNT smile.gif

My first card was a 4MB PCI Matrox Mellenium ADD-ON card. It didn't even have a video output. It just supplied VRAM for the onboard output. So obscure. I can't even find it online. I remember saving up for months to get it and then be terrified when it came time to install it in my 100MHz Pentium Gateway. I wore rubber gloves because I thought I'd contaminate it. Man, I was a strange kid.

My favorite card however was either my 1Gb 4670 or my 3870X2. The 4670 was always such an overachiever. It was slow-ish on paper, but it honestly chugged along at 1080p with satisfactory results ALL the time. I overclocked the snot out of it, neglected it while it accrued a massive dust ball in it's fan, left it on my bedroom carpet floor for weeks......worked flawlessly every single time. The 3870X2 was just plain crazy. the idea of two cards in one blew my mind. It maxed out everything I played at the time and was freakin' HUGE!

my first "gaming card" was a voodoo 3 2000 pci
my favourite card was a very heavily modded FX 5700 flashed to a 5900 and heavily overclocked, volt modded and added a massive aftermarket cooler

Wow, seriously? I never realized the 460 overclocked so well. Which version was it?
