Just get a 15 or 17" one.
Waiting is pointless, as you may get IB and you may lose the dist drive in later generations.
Neither of which I would consider worth the wait.

For music work either one will get you through school easy.
Make sure it isnt using the Intel gfx if you will be doing a lot on it though.
A MBP with Intel gfx has always struck me as a little silly.

To the OP - have a look at some 2nd hand bargains. You might be able to get a nice 1-2 year old MBP for a few hundred cheaper. Make sure its been well looked after.
My MacBook was owned by an elderly couple who only used it very occasionally, so it was virtually brand new even though its 4 years old.

Actually if you get a gigabyte mobo a sandybridge CPU and a 6870 it is extremely easy

I have a good external DVD drive that I think is better than the super multi drive.
