Drop the 6670 and save the $90, and that would be plenty of power for this build...

Dont forget the $10 promo card on the APU

This saves you another $10, don't need a K chip if you arent overclocking.

Trying to link to the 1x2gb sticks that are $11 a piece. wink.gif

Newegg.com doesnt have those sticks in stock currently.

I like the Source 220 for $60

No reason to spend more money on a mobo, this ASRock is solid for $70

If you want a modular PSU this OCZ for $45 AMIR and with promo is a killer deal

Yeah, I'll probably back down to 4 gb unless it's only going to be $10 to move to 8 gb. Although........if I went 4 gb, I could install XP Pro (I have a corp copy) and run it with 2.5 gigs and .5 shared for the integrated........

Definitely NOT getting a discreet GPU for this build.

Sticking with the Xigmatek case. I know that the NXZT Source 210 is cheaper, but it's just not pleasing to the eye IMO.

Looks very much like it's going to end up being an intel build after weighing performance vs. cost increase with the I3-2105 given what he's going to use the computer for.

Thanks for all the help everyone, this should be getting ordered this week it looks like.

Ok, setup has been ordered, and after discussion, he wanted the quad core AMD A8 3850 setup. We could have gone I5-2400K but it would have involved a 3 hour round trip to Microcenter and about an extra $70 on the build (processor at Microcenter was $180 and a $100-120 motherboard open box chance there too). He decided it wasn't worth it and to go AMD. So, without further adieu, here's what got ordered:

AMD A8-3850 and Asus F1A75-M Pro Motherboard, combo deal for $204.99 - $10 Mail in Rebate = $194.99
G.Skil Sniper 8GB 1866 memory -- $59.99 with a -$10 promo code = $49.99
Mushkin Enhanced Chronos 60gb Sata III SSD -- $84.99
Corsair CX-430 PSU -- $44.99 - $8 promo code - -$20 Mail in Rebate = $16.99
Asus Bulk 24x DVD Burner - $20.99
TP Link USB Wireless Adapter -- $20.99 (last second add on his part)
Xigmatek Asgard Pro case -- $59.99
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit -- $99.99

Total before rebates is $602.93 with $30 in rebates coming. Not too shabby. I think he's going to be pretty pleased. I tried leaning him towards the I5-2400K and letting me turn it up on the OC, but he didn't feel the three hour round trip was worth it. Can't blame him I guess.

All parts are being delivered to me, and given New Egg, should show up on Saturday or Monday. I plan to install everything as cleanly as I can, and will probably be doing some white accent paracord sleeving on the inside just to set it off some. More to come!

^^ that looks good the only thing is if could have got a good deal which has the 3870K or 3670K it will be easier for you he overclock it and get the "free" performance thumb.gif
something like THIS or THIS
or 3870K 140$ + ASRock A55 PRO3 75$ 215$
dont under estimate the Asrock motherboard it has shown a impressive performance at its price specially with the x8 CF capabilities its more future proof thumb.gif
Anyways congrats on the buy cheers.gif
