the e6600 is what i would go with. it crushes the fx-60, not only does it perform better in most benchmarks, but it runs cooler and is also much more overclockable.

Its not logical if you dont already have a socket 939 motherboard.

Yah I agree. Everyone is being sensationalists now. AMD still amkes some awesome chips. I reckon go for an X2 5000+ and OC it if you want AMD. If you wan Core2 then go for the E6600 and a 965P motherboard. Chozart is having troubles with the 975X.

lol... personally, i went with the e6300... this was because im cheap and ill probably get a higher % overclock than anyone with an e6600 and the arctic freezer... haha i overclock to save money..

but if it were between the two, i'd go with an e6600. im a firm believer that its the chip as an individual, and its design that makes it a good overclocker... not its model number and default clockspeed.

an E6300, the slowest Core 2 Duo, is still faster than an FX-62 when overclocked. You know what that means? Your 6600 will SCORCH an FX-60 once you overclock it. Your friend is ripping you off with the FX-60. Get the E6600, overclock it to 3.2 GHz + and you will be extremely pleased.

AMD's chips will still be more than enough for most people. I love mine 3200+, and have been having much better luck with AMD chips than I ever did with Intel, so once I get some money, I'm gonna get a good AM2 rig, just because bandwagons suck, lol.
