Operation: Biohazard (HAF 932 Repaint)

Thread Starter
So originally I wanted to do a red themed 932, with the nvidia Claw Logo on the side panel. Once I got online I saw how played out red is on the HAF cases. So I decided to take a different approach and do a Yellow and Black scheme with the theme of Biohazard.

Here is the before pictures, showing that the case was painted with red accents.

Here are the pieces being painted disassembled and taken off the case. They will be lightly sanded and hit with a few coats of primer.

359

359

The fan on the case door will also be painted.

359

I'll be using Krylon rattle cans for this project.

359

Here are the pieces after a few coats of primer.

359

359

Bay covers painted Yellow and taped off before they are hit with Black.

700

Here is the custom stencil I made. Printed a vector image out in photo shop on 13"x19" matte finish paper and hand cut it out with a razor.

359

After painting the stencil onto the side panel.

359

359

Bay covers after being hit with Black and tape removed.

359

Being set into their pieces.

700

These didn't turn out as well as I would have liked them too. They will most likely be re-done in the near future, but they are okay for now.

700

Here is the fan, done up in Yellow with a Yellow grill.

359

Side panel with the fan installed.

359

Finished product! (For now. Look below for details).

Updates to come:
  • I plan on painting the top case mesh. Not too sure with what design yet but I am open to suggestions.
  • Right now the rig is housing plenty of red fans. I'm hoping to get my hands on some more yellow ones that move air well and possibly some yellow cathodes.
  • Hoping to stealth the DVD drive so it blends in with the front of the case.
  • And I want to visit the other side panel and touch that up with some yellow too.

Thanks for looking, Feedback is welcome smile.gif

Best regards,
Mike

I definitely like builds that stray from the normal blue/red/black builds. The striping on the mesh looks nice and crisp. The side mesh seems like a lot of yellow though. Maybe make the bio-hazard symbol a little thicker to make the contrast between yellow and black more even? Nice work! thumb.gif

Thanks! I see what you mean about the side panel. Do you think more black would even it out? I could add the striping like i did on the front of the case to the side panel.

I'm not sure how you would add the striping, but I'd be afraid it would 'drown' out the biohazard symbol, which is the best part. You could try to add the word "BIOHAZARD" somewhere onto the side. Or maybe even just make a black border like a "Biohazard - Authorized Personnel Only" sign...

Yeah now that I'm thinking about it I agree. It would be a little too much. I couldn't stencil that into the mesh because there isn't enough room to do it. I could probably fit it in near the HAF logo but then it would be too crammed.

I got a great idea midpost. I'll buy one of these:

http://www.mybiohazardlabels.com/BIO/Caution-Biological-Hazard-Sign/SKU-S-6470.aspx

And I'll put two holes in it so it can screw into the bottom two fan holes (Far left and far right). That would look pretty awesome down there.

I actually really like the idea of this with the biohazard symbol on the side like that. Give me an idea of doing something to my case like a throwing star or something along those lines. My HAF 912 has more of a blue/black theme because I don't really like the red.

Sometimes the most simple things look great. If you don't want to hack your case up there are still many ways to make it stick out from the average case. Thanks for the compliments biggrin.gif
