My comment was not about his H50 for HIS application. It was about recommending the H50 to other folks when it's not a good choice even compared to the H60/70/80. I didn't mention anything about the price/performance ratio of HIS H50 for his use.

The H50 can be whatever you want it to be. wink.gif

The only Corsair model that thermally equals a quality high end HSFs is the H100.
I'm sure you like your H50 but in good conscience it's difficult to recommend any of the closed loop coolers unless someone is giving it to you for free or you can't fit a quality HSF to your CPU for some reason. This isn't meant to disparage your choice, it's just for informational purposes for those looking for a HSF or water-cooler. There is also the obvious water-leak liability with a CLC, which can destroy expensive PC hardware.

Because Corsair won't wont ship you new hardware when one of their coolers fail.. Don't let him scare you. A RL friend of mine use's the H50 on a Phenom IIx3 and his temps are nothing short of stupid low(just a few c above ambiant after hours of prime testing).

Damaged hardware from water-leaks is a reality. What happens after the damage, is up to the PC owner and water-cooler supplier. Replacing the damaged hardware doesn't make the cooler any more thermally efficient or any less leak prone. It is what it is.

I think people should know the full story before they spend their money. wink.gif

Again my comments were NOT addressed to this individual's specific case. It was an overview of how poor the H50 is compared to a quality HSF and even the later Corsair H 60/70/80/100 models thus the H50 would not be a good recommendation if someone is looking to purchase a cooler as they can get far better cooling for the same cost.

It would appear you have joined this thread to be a negitive Nancy even though the OP is posting he's having more than acceptable results from said product.... even if it wasn't your intention.

I'm not hating on CLCs. I'm providing the technical data that shows how thermally inferior the H50 is compared to a quality HSF, so that enthusiasts can make a technically informed purchasing decision. CLC's also tend to be a poor value cost wise and the fans are noisy because they must be run on high to cool the radiators.

This is reality folks. The link I posted shows 80+ HSFs that are thermally more efficient than the H50, many are cheaper, many are quieter and none of the HSFs leak water.

It is what it is. BUY WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY but don't hate the messenger for providing legitimate test data information on the H50 closed loop cooler so people can make an informed decision.

There was no reason for you to post your "info". Cooler has already been bought. He's reporting he's getting good thermal performance. Your posting in the wrong thread man, go post this stuff in a "should I buy" thread.... not a "look at this performance" thread...
