Straightening Pins on EVGA x58 ftw3

Thread Starter
Hey Y'all,

I got this motherboard in a massive trade, and when I removed the socket protector I noticed some of the pins are bent. I have no desire to use this board, I'd really just like to sell it. I just don't want to sell somebody a useless hunk of junk. Anyone have any tips for making this thing useful again?

Thanks!! (btw, if you'd like to try your luck at fixing it, I'd be happy to trade it for anything amd, Its bnib.)

If you have a magnifying glass and thin needle, carefully straighten out the pins. I've fixed a few boards in the past that had bent socket pins. When it came to more severe damage, I RMA'd with the manufacturer (sometimes having to pay a $$ fee to get the socket replaced). Since you bought the EVGA board second hand, the warranty is pretty much useless unless you can get a refund.

I think on eBay you can find some replacable CPU sockets for LGA 1366. You'll have to desolder the damaged one from your board and solder in the new one. I would only take that route if you couldn't get the board replaced or refunded with the original buyer.

You may consider taking it to a jeweler, they might look at you funny but they may also be able to bend it back.
