Well I thought it's about time I start my own 800D build log since I need it to slow down just a bit and so I can remember everything. This is my first computer and while some of the parts like the motherboard and the case have already been upgraded, most of the components are the originals. So this will be my summer project before I go to UT Dallas this fall. I have a few big mods that I want to do but I'm on a pretty strict budget because I'm supposed to be saving up for college. smile.gif Even so I want to do some things that may or may not work out.

I have named the computer SOPHOS which means well done or good job in Latin. I wanted to come up with a name that meant something rather than just a sticker slapped on the computer without any thoughts behind the project. I named it that because this is my first computer and I want to do a good job on it the first time which means I do my research and a lot of reading. I want to try my hardest and put forth the effort to build a great pc. Even so, I'm not 100% set on the name so if you have something better then let me know.

I have the plan set up to do things in three phases or over the next three months but I'll have to see about when I have to pay for classes and when/if my car needs fixed or not so phases may be shifted around a little depending on whether or not I have money to pay for them. tongue.gif Here is a spreadsheet of the current status on some of the parts I'm getting for the build.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ambqra9ZON0edGZNVXpieGJLVHMza2pLVVdYaU9mNlE

I need a little help trying to get the spread sheet to display correctly but here it is as a link smile.gif also, if anyone wants to do some themeing for the name and the logo then please help me out because I suck at Photoshop tongue.gif

Here's the list of mods I want to do:

1. Remove bottom harddrive bay to allow 240mm rad
2. Enlarge the window to be almost the entire panel
3. Hide/cover the drive bay side and paint the name SOPHOS
4. Mount the fan controller internally because I never use it and I want sleek and clean
5. Sleeve the psu
6. Re solder the fans so that they all run off of one connection and remove the molex mess that I have in the shroud
7. Remove the grills in the fans up top and on the back
8. Create some cheap filters for the back 140mm fan
9. PAINT smile.gif gonna get my own hvlp guns and paint: ram, case, fans, and psu WHITE! Gonna be one of the few with a white 800D and I'm so excited!

List of pc components:

CPU – AMD 1100T
Mobo – Asus Sabertooth 990FX
Ram – Patriot G2 2x4gb 1600
PSU – Thermaltake Toughpower 775 watt
Case – Corsair Obsidian 800D
Fan controller – Scythe Kaze Master Pro
GPU – EVGA gtx 460

Water Cooling loop:

Masterkleer White UV tubing
EK barbs
XSPC single bay reservoir
Swiftech MCP655-B pump
EK Supreme high flow CPU block
EK Supreme high flow Universal GPU block
XSPC RS360 radiator (Yate Loon mediums in push/pull)
Kill coil and distilled water

Table of Contents

1. What I started with (below)
2. Some stuff done but more designing
3. New orders
4. Build designs come to life!
5. Testing the new reservoir
6. Painting and some sleeving
7. Finished painting and reassembly of case
8. Finishing window assembly and the little stuff

Currently I'm rearranging pictures and putting the watermark on them but they will be up soon smile.gif

Here's some of my current ideas and what I'll possibly do.

So the side window is freaking huge already but I want to make it bigger to allow for the name to be seen
700

Here's what needs to be addressed too.
700

I want to put the fan controller internal instead of in the drive bay because I never need to adjust it so I'll just mount it below the divider but still keep it visible if I need it.
450

Lastly here's a bunch of pics of the current state of confusion.

Have you encountered any tangles with the paracord sleeving? or do you have some sort of "Anti tangle tool" ? tongue.gif because I've always wanted to know how people do it, everyone has their own way redface.gif

Actually the sleeving was a piece of cake minus the fact that I kept cutting my fingers on the pins when I was stretching the fabric lol. I did get blood on one of the white cables but I plan on re doing the 6 pins to make them neat and the same length plus I'm gonna remove some of the extra cables they put in there :/ It was simple to thread it and all I had to do was put a little masking tape over the ends while I put it through the sleeve. I followed this guys example and it only took me a couple tries to get it to mold the first time. http://youtu.be/tFUDqEvhmho I did wet down my fingers before I would spin it to help keep my skin from being singed but other than that it wasn't too bad. I had two 6 pins sleeved in about three hours and that's the very first time I had ever used paracord. The next time I get back into using it it should go pretty quick.

Yea, I am thinking about buying an anti tangle tool from him, because whenever I do normal sleeving with tape, the tape always falls off, I guess it doesn't like me tongue.gif. Anyways, I'll be watching your progress! thumb.gif

Yeah I didn't use very much tape, only like a half inch of it or just enough of it that it would cover the sharp edges and then thread it through the sleeve. I'll have to post a video of it to show how I did it.
