The 6100 is not that great... it's actually pretty terrible because the core i3 2100 will even beat it in most games and application, but other than that, it seems fine.

I could make that build better for same price or less...
960T zosma or 1090T for cpu
Asus m5a99x evo mobo or sabertooth
NOT xfx for videocard..well..if you don't overclock they're OK..XFX is the "dell" of videocards
storage:
crucial m4 (64 or 128)for OS and programs
really not a good time to be buying more hdd than what you absolutely need..
maybe a 500gb hitachi with 32mb cache
or two
RAM http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=samsung+ram&hl=en&prmd=imvnsu&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1654&bih=737&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=1693932428983254321&sa=X&ei=Py5MT5jwGe_jsQKB5Ug&ved=0CPsBEPMCMAQ
^this RAM ..good ram
running @ 8-8-8-24 @ 1533 mhz right now..it does all the frequencies at decent timings
gtg..good luck!

It looks good to me, besides the FX 6100. Like someone has said, it's not really that great. OC that beast for the most potential.

If you can OC your CPU into the 4Ghz range it'll help for gaming. If you already bought the HDDs the green ones have high failure rates, not good for long term storage. HDD prices are bloated right now if you can make due with less space and add a SSD for OS and some programs, you'll really see better performance. It looks like a fine build except you may be itching to upgrade that CPU within a year or so.

sorry for double posting. The CPU is fine for all the use I've gotten out of it. It beat the hell out of my old B55 Phenom II in bf3 and Skyrim. Also I caught the mobo/cpu for about $270
And to all the people recomending an i3 2100, I'm doing Video editing I can't have a dual core with HT and I'm overclocking id have to build a 2500k rig. I feel better with a 6 core for future proofing.

In that case, the any of the X6 Phenom II models will handily outperform the FX6100 in every category, especially video editing. The X6 is even on par with the FX 8120/50 in a lot of categories. The X6 will also be faster in single threaded applications.

Even when all cores are under load, the 2500K is faster in heavily multi-threaded apps. It competes with FX-81**, but that's beside the point.

It's an alright build but I would go with a PII X4/X6 and call it a day.

You would really want to overclock that cpu higher that's a pretty mild OC for an FX chip.

my cpu would go very well against yours and I built in 2010. biggrin.gif

but in reality it's fine enjoy the new build.

that PSU is too big BTW.
