Yahoo is much more of a content provider than a service provider. I don't care for their email service, but they're an excellent place to have lots of info/stories/articles at your fingertips that spans many areas--science, news, tech, entertainment. Their "sports" section is pretty strong against things like ESPN too. They're not a "big player" in the way that google--or even MS--is, but they're not as shrunken up as most people think. But they definitely don't give confidence that they know exactly what direction they're going either.
