you forgot to cool them

I just bought an Alpha Dog. There is quite of difference between an Alpha Dog's stock cooler and that BFG 8800.I put 50.00 extra cooling in a BFG 8800GT (50.00 cooling on a 50.00 card?) and it still went belly up.

I don't see what the problem is. If I fail to successfully volt mod my GPU and fry it, am I being immature? I've totaled hardware that did nothing but give me problems. I also for the fun/education part of things, see how much physical abuse a computer will take before it starts failing. Let me tell you, Pentium II's will run fine without a heatsink.

I've purposely dropped a bag of screws in a running power supply, to see what happens. I've kicked in the front panel of certain cases because the computer would fail to POST. There's nothing wrong with destroying perfectly good things if you have a good reason. He stated multiple times that this card was nothing but trouble. So it would be morally acceptable to sell the problem to someone else? Here bro here's free broken stuff.

Just so everyone's aware, I give people free useful hardware on a regular basis. Would I honestly charge you 10 dollars for this wifi card? lol what, no I wasn't using or the 10 bucks in the first place. "Hey bro this SSD I bought sucks, want it?" I gave my buddy free damn near BNIB kit of 2x2 XMS3 because his computer couldn't handle multiple instances of Silk Road. Am I really gonna try and hassle MY FRIEND for 20 dollars of hardware I wasn't using? Nope. I have a bunch of left over from previous upgrades, am I gonna sell it? No it's not worth it, shipping would eat about 80% of profit anyways.

To be frank, I don't think it's much more mature to sit there and call a man an immature idiot because he did what he wanted to do with his things. Wash your own face before offering your neighbor a rag.

He literally just threw it in the sink, and put it into the PC. TRYING to break it.
If you voltmodded your GPU and failed, you weren't trying to break it, you were trying to gain more performance.
I've also broken hardware, but i didn't just smash it with a hammer, it died from overclocking/overvolting/experiements etc...

That makes it better from your perspective, but everyone doesn't see it that way. You still broke hardware, and it broke because you goofed with settings. That's how a lot of people would see it.

I don't see it that way. Most on OCN wouldn't see it that way, we're overclockers. But you go talk to the average consumer, or better yet, a poor one, unable to buy that 300 dollar desktop for her son's school work, and tell her that you blew some hardware overclocking and she just won't see it that way. It's all just perception.

I'm not saying it's not wasteful. It was. But it was his. I just sold my car that bent a valve for 400 bucks. Yeah, I could have fixed it, and kept on driving it, but I really didn't want to. Just didn't feel like doing that kind of mechanical work in my driveway, and I dumped it. It was a little wasteful to do it this way. But it was my decision. I guess the difference is, someone ended up with a 400 dollar car.

I always flinch when I see food being thrown away. I'm called the garbage disposal any time we go out to eat. You're not going to box that? I'm still hungry. Don't throw that cheese out damnit, there's only mold on this part just cut that off....I'm not wasteful at all so it does bother me.

Difference is, I realize that I HAVE to respect liberty. His money, his product, his choice. Poop on your motherboard for all I care.
