In November last year we introduced you to a tiny ARM USB stick PC that can run either Linux or Android. It is being developed by Norwegian company FXI Technologies and is called the Cotton Candy. At its heart is a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, 1GB RAM, and an ARM Mali-400MP GPU. The tiny PC also manages to integrate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB 2.0, and a MicroSD slot (up to 64GB cards).

While it sounds like a Raspberry Pi beater, the price point of $199 says otherwise. It may be more capable in terms of hardware, but then you need to pay an extra $175 to purchase that performance over the similarly diminutive Raspberry Pi.

Mmmm, nice!

Galaxy S2 in a usb stick. Interesting. Same CPU, same GPU, same core clocks. It's a powerful CPU, I had mine overclocked to 1.6.

That...is alot of wine glasses.

To be honest I'm probably never going to buy one because it's more of an expensive novelty than it is useful in my opinion.

For that price (or less) you could buy a used android phone/device with hdmi out and be able to use it anywhere without any constraints like usb power or requiring a display. Granted, it wouldn't be able to run linux (yet) but if linux is all you need then there are cheaper options or better options at the same price (Rasp Pi, Netbook running linux, cheap thinclient). But if you're looking for a machine that fits on your keyring (which I do think is very cool), then you probably won't find anything. But man I can't get over the steep price.

What I'm more excited about is Ubuntu on phones, that is where I think mobile tech is headed. Dock it, do work, un-dock and go all on one device.
