Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66Ghz to 3.2Ghz - Page 2

You just went straight to 3.2? You need to start low and bump FSB in steps, verify RAM speed etc with CPUz. Stress test with OCCT and Adjust VCore as needed.
I bump ~100MHz on the CPU each step, test with OCCT about 10-15 mins then another bump. When OCCT fails, bump VCore. When you reach your final speed (3.2) run the full 60 mins of OCCT then it will be time for Prime 95.

Have you read a guide yet?

Hey, yea i tried to overclock cpu straight from 2,8ghz to 3,2ghz with unlinked memory 1400mhz ---> 1600mhz and i disabled loadline calibration bcz it was increasing cpu voltages just way too high what was needed to. On 2,8ghz i ran prime95 for 2hours 0 error or warnings so it may have been stable. But yea should i try with overclock my processor with unlinked memory cpu = 2,8ghz and rams only 1333mhz?

What's your RAM rated for?

I always use LLC on. Without it on, you'll likely have to push more VCore.

Most Q9400 will hit 3.4GHz with no voltage increase. Back in the day I was given the responsibility of building and overclocking 20 computers for my school. most of them had Q9400's.

The most you will be able to get out of them is 3.5 on water or air. 3.6 if your lucky.

Check into some guides because with DDR3 I didn't think the 1:1 fsb :ram ratio was as important as with DDR2. I know my Q9450 takes 1.34 to do 3.52GHZ on a P35 chipset. Was it blue screening or freezing? Freezeing is usually more Vcore, Blue screens are more NB voltage or FSB VTT if I remember right.

Hey, thx for answers, it didnt freeze or blue screen, it just didnt boot me into windows it said boot failed and when i bios posted my comp infos on start up it showed my prosessor speed was 1,57Ghz when it should have showed 3,2ghz, after that i loaded my oc profile what was stable and working, after that it booted to windows, not enough vcore? And clocking q9400 model should not be a problem bcz its same chip with just less cache, multiplier and fsb. those chips run with same vcore as this and have higher clocks so this would not be a problem. If you guys know what went wrong please tell me that, you can see all my comps infos on my first post of this thread and pictures of my rig on my profile. And i disabled Loadline calibration bcz it automatically inceased cpu vcore from 1,28 V to 1,36 V when i oc:ed 2,66ghz --> 2,8ghz its just way too much, if that inceased that much from just 140mhz oc how much it would increase it when i go to 3,2ghz, so would it be a good idea to try oc it to 3,2 with cpu vcore 1,34 V with unlinked rams on running 1333mhz with 1,5V as default?
