Under $300 LoL build - Page 6

That and 2GB of RAM for pretty much anything nowadays is cutting it extremely close.

Sure the PSU is probably a 250 or 300 watt basic unit but a Geforce 220 or equivalent uses about 40 watts at load. The stock power should be fine with a budget card and a processor thats going to use 50 watts max itself. A $40 v card wont require a 6 pin either. Plus the minimum system req for RAM for LoL is 512mb and recommended is 1gb

That budget is really tough because after the monitor you're only left with $200-$250 at most for the actual system. If your willing to buy a prebuilt OEM system I have one I'm going to be selling. I will tell you though that I bought it semi-functional open box from Micro Center and fixed it up. The problem with it was 4 bent pins on the CPU. I carefully bent them back and the system now works like new. It's an HP Pavillion P6717C and the specs are below:

  • AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Quad-Core CPU
  • AMD 785G Chipset AM3 Motherboard
  • AMD HD4200 Integrated Graphics
  • 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM Kit
  • Hitachi 750GB 7200RPM HDD
  • Lite-On 250W PSU
  • HP DVD Burner
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • Multi-Card Reader
  • Front 2xUSB 2.0 and Audio/Mic
  • Software: Microsoft Office Starter 2010 (Word + Excel)

For the monitor I have a few spare ones that I could also sell. I have an HP 20" 1600x900 and an Asus 19" 1680x1050. I can sell you the computer plus one of the previously mentioned monitors for $300 + shipping (basically $250 for the system and $50 the monitor). The only question is shipping since it will probably put you a little over budget. If your friend can't increase his budget maybe we could work out a trade to pay for shipping. There's an open PCI-E X16 slot so once your friend has the money he can upgrade to a HD6670 or HD7750 which don't need auxiliary so the 250W PSU should be enough (idle on the system is 44W and load via OCCT + FurMark is 142W). It's a very nice system that's fast, runs cool, and is extremely quiet.

Decent specs, but no OS and you'd need a Monitor KB and Mouse, but that is doable. The onboard is most likely a 3200 variant which means it could play LoL without too much trouble, but you could add in a GPU.
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=TS-0006P-AMDX611-R&cat=SYS

This one you need a Monitor, KB and Mouse, and definitely a GPU, but is doable as well. Any HD5450 comes with low profile brackets and will handle LoL easily enough and you would not need to worry about PSU. I have an Athlon 64 x2 system right now with a 5450 running all on a 250W PSU.

Ok, this is as close as I could get, not going second hand. If you CL a monitor I'm sure you can make the difference, but to overclock you need to run DVI.

I know for a fact that this PC will play LoL at ~40 AT LEAST, with stock settings. You will have to wait a few days for me to get the dual channel memory kit in, to see if that makes a huge improvement on the Llano APU.

Recently I built an HTPC and put LoL on it to see how it performed, my setup is almost identical to this one, minus what I had stated above. With overclocking, you should be able to get 60 fps +, it will take some tinkering to get a decent overclock, but you mainly want to focus on a memory overclock anyways. It will yield the best FPS gain using the APU.

403

Good luck!

If you want to know about the Llano's LOL performance, hit me up in PM and I will spend some time overclocking my HTPC when I get the memory (I am using the same motherboard as well)

Yeah, swap your ram/cpu/mobo into my build and save a few bucks even.

Consider this: http://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103951 for better graphics and tri core action.

Although my original build would be better CPU (for most things) and GPU wise...(sans dx11)
