Is this a good option/deal?

OK guys, looks like I've made a good and safe decision! FOund a company that offers great value "upgrade deals"

Now, I'm gonna stick with AMD and the bulldozer and not get intel because they dont have any intel deals in stock but AMD is half the price and only very little worse performance than intel. Also, I heard the bulldozers had been updated?

Here's the offer. £145 gets me

The FX-4100 X4 @3.6ghz (Could possibly OC from there of course) And to make the most out of that cpu,
Asus M5A78L-M - which I believe is pretty good right? And will work well with cpu.
And 8 GB of DDR3 Ram! Where as I used to have only 4GB of DDR2

And I can install it all myself after it arrives which is great! Fitting in the current case.

The Cpu on its own would be around 100 and the motherboard would be around 40 and the RAM is basically comming free effectively and that's quite a lot! SO rather than bunging the cpu in my current system, I can pay a slight bit more, get better value and get more benefit out of it!

Also, once I'm swapped over, can sell current parts. How much do you reckon I could get for my current CPU, Mobo and RAM?

And, would it be good idea to get a new gpu to make more out of it, bearing in mind I've already saved a bit, to keep up with cpu?

And those parts are all good specs? And will work well together? I'm looking forward to this. Quite excited. Also, how would I go about the whole proccess?

Thank you!

Price wise it is a good deal,

BUT

With the combo of CPU and board there is no room for OC'n on it. devil.gif

A matter of fact I probably wouldn't even try a Bulldozer on that board. devil.gifdevil.gifdevil.gif

It is always a Good idea for a new GPU, when the old one is struggling.

Ginger nuts, not to bothered about Ocing on this since its as high as needed really. Why not put it on that board? They're sold together specifically for that :/ :L

And should the 5750 work well with FX 4100? Or will it bottleneck it? You say, "if its struggling" But im not sure it is, however would the two be considered to work well togehter?

Thanks

Yeah it sells them both bc both are low/mid entry products, thats why you probably wont be able to do some overclocking on that, if you are going to leave evyerthing on stock and you are not planning on getting another cpu in the future of the same socket then sure go for it, if you are planning on getting an fx8xxx or piledriver i would advice you to get another motherboard.

Thanks guys. I'm really happy with this deal saved me a lot of dosh! lol. What about the GPU? Will I need to upgrade that? Will it bottleneck the new CPU? Is an ATI Radeon 5750. I don't think it will but just to be sure? ANyway FSX doesn't rely too much on graphics card but, I've got money to spare.

It's a decent deal despite the fact that it's costing you only 140 bucks. About the GPU now, tbh it really depends on you, how much gaming you'll be doing and at what settings. If you want to game at med-high graphics with no AA then it should be fine but if you want to go max AA and all those high resolutions and expecting 60+FPS for nearly all the games then it is too much to ask but if you can OC your card a bit under decent temperatures then i think your card would be good enough.

And if you don't want to sell your card and you're thinking of an upgrade then go crossfire with your HD 5750, you can get a HD 5770 and crossfire it with HD 5750 but again it all depends on the amount of gaming and the amount of bucks you got in your pocket tongue.gif

shadowboss,

Its 140 odd pounds actually. I'm English! So its actually more than that, however just realised there's shipping and VAT. In total its £175 which would be like $250 I guess. Also, remeber tech is cheaper your side.

About GPU, won't purchase another one. It's only FSX which doesn't use it much. All I need it for is the HD display on my widescreen monitor. I think its adequate. But thanks for the help!

When I've done the work, I will probably update the rig details for the signature.

This may be a slightl tricky task to do, considering I was only 15 two weeks ago. But I have added RAM and two hard drives before smile.gif

Cheers

Congrats on so much so young, but just remember things are only hard to do if you are not willing to learn or practice. thumb.gif

I think that is a reasonably good deal.  Although you can't expect much from a 3+1 phase VRM low end board not designed for overclocking....

It's a perfect deal for getting started, not everyone needs to overclock but you could get couple hundred Mhz out of it due to the unlocked mutliplyer..

I'm now going to look at them for my friend..
