OK, so I should probably throw in a newer AM3+ slot Mobo. A cheap one.

Will likely only be a percent or two difference.

Your current 16x slot is equivalent of a 8x 2.0 slot, or a 4x 3.0 slot, as you can see from the graph.

With a single card configuration, you do not have a lot of extra bandwidth utilization between cards for crossfire/SLi, and should lose less than similar crossfire experiments on slower buses.

Tbh, I'm not wanting to actually overclock anything unless necessary. I'm trying to build a PC for a reasonable price that will last me a good 3+ years. Without overdoing it. Rule out i7's, 590's and all that stuff.

I just found this reasonable Mobo with all I'm looking for, but it says it has an integrated ATI Radeon 3000. Does this affect anything?

Sadly AMD cpu's are starting to get kinda old now, so that 4ghz overclock is kinda needed for them. If your not overclocking then just pick up the highest clocked phenom II.
If you have the cash pick up the 2500k, 1155 mobo's have gotten pretty cheap and the 2500k cpu will last you a while.

Really not a unreasonable price for a intel system.

I picked both these systems on the fact that you will not overclock.
