Weird GPU Problem (least I believe it is)

So first off, I hope this is in the right place...

Lately there's been something weird going on with my computer, I'll give a run down of what's been happening, apologies if it's a wall o text for some..

When I first got this computer, it was completely silent, barely any sound.

About a month ago, I noticed that my computer was getting louder, specifically ( I believe ) my GPU... When I play games, sometimes the GPU gets really really loud, almost as loud as my Xbox I'd say. It sounds like the fan is spinning extremely fast and loudly, but CCC ALWAYS shows the fan's speed @ 24% and the temperature of the GPU at around 55-60 degrees. What's more, when it is making this noise it starts blowing hot, then cold air, through my case (I can feel it on my foot which is right beside the bottom). Also, the case literally vibrates, feels almost as if someone's got loud Bass near it. This continues until I reboot my computer, not simply on exiting a game. It does sometimes, but not all the time.

Also, the problem is intermittent. Right now as I type this, there is complete silence coming from my case, there is nothing at all noticeable. Sometimes when I start up a game, it does not happen, but for example last night it was literally as loud as an Xbox until I shut down and restarted, when it went back to normal.

Another thing that started happening is I would get occasional BSOD's, upon googling the STOP message, it pointed towards something about a driver trying to access something but failing, resulting in a BSOD. This happened a few times randomly, while doing nothing and while gaming sometimes, and all I had to do was reboot and it would be fine until the next random crash.

Then along with the BSOD's, my computer started to freeze. When it froze/locked up, the computer would beep continuously. It was one solid long beep and a frozen computer, until I rebooted it. Sometimes when I rebooted it it would still freeze and beep, so I rebooted it again and it worked fine.

Also, after these freezes it would get to the Windows loading screen, then just stop. It didn't freeze as the blue circle was spinning, but after 20 minutes of waiting Windows still didn't boot up. I rebooted into safe mode, and it would start the repair manager. It would complete, and then my computer would boot up normally again, until I experienced another BSOD or freeze.

About a week ago, everything got worse. It started to lockup constantly, emitting that loud constant beep, and I couldn't even boot into safe mode without it locking up soon after.

I took out my GPU, disconnected every cable, etc and reseated all of my RAM and hardware, made sure everything was nice and secure. I did notice a LOT of dust around my PSU, GPU and my fan's. I didn't have any DUST OFF can's so I just used my breath/some cloths to get rid of as much dust as I could. When I booted up, I ran virus scans, spyware scans, etc and fully cleaned my computer of anything that was found.

Since then (about 2 weeks ago) I have not had a single BSOD or crash/freeze, anything at all. However, the first problem I listed with my GPU still continues. Sometimes when gaming, it gets loud as hell, while other times (like right now) it's completely silent (Just finished a map of BF3 as well 10 mins ago).

So what was/is wrong here?

ok so first try to uninstall your graphic card drivers and download and install the latest drivers from AMD website. at this time of writing the latest official AMD driver is 12.1 CAP 3.

do that and tell us what happens.

That was one of the things I had done a long time ago... Every time a new driver set comes out I use CCCleaner and do a fresh install of them. Currently running the latest drivers, have been since the last ones came out and was still experiencing the issues/still have a loud as hell GPU randomly.
ok why not try to set the fan speed in CCC manually? try to set it at 50%

Funny you mention that. Last night, when my fan sounded like it was spinning uncontrollably, I went into CCC and it said the fan was spinning @ 24%, and the GPU's temp was @ 58 if I recall. I set it manually to various settings, and nothing happened. The sound continued until I rebooted, then it went silent again (left my cpu on all night and it's still silent).

hmm... that could be either a hardware or a software problem. try to install After burner and set the fan speed from there and see what happens.

Looks like you have a failing fans. Take it apart and have a thorough check for vibration too.
