hey mate i had the same concerns but given the current games and how they look, feel and play, and the proposed title line up for the future, the PS Vita is a definite leap forward in handheld console gaming.

it is much better to play than the PSP, the games actually feel like genuine console games rather than dumbed down games designed for a small handheld unit. i know the PSP had some grunt and some of the games were great, the for me so far, the PS Vita genuinely feels like its own portable unit, the games feel original, like great care has been taken to make them work on the Vita. i've only played Uncharted and FIFA but so far, if they are a taste of things to come, then its a bright future.

i think handheld consoles are always a big risk for boredom, i myself sometimes find it really hard to get deep into a handheld game or play them for a long time due to the small screen and lack of immersion. so it depends on what reason you wanna buy one. if you are a serious gamer and can appreciate gaming on all its levels, you would get something out of it.

if you're looking for something else to occupy your attention for a while, then yeah it will do exactly that too, for a while. and you might fall into your PSP-2000 trap and get bored.

haha guess what im trying to say is, maybe if you're the type that gets bored real easy with these types of units and this type of gaming, unless you have money to burn dont bother coz as awesome as it is imo, its a pretty expensive rental if thats all you're gonna get out of it, if you know what i mean.

Idk will it get any slimmer then now because imo the feeling on the PS vital is just right. And if it get slimmer it won't feel right on your head

I could be wrong though

Not that you're really wrong but it's really subjective I guess.
