try updating the drivers from the manufacture web site and then reinstall coolbits.

I know those 5700's can run hot stock but im skeptical that its hot enough to artifact even with a little overclock. Usually if a card gets that hot enough to make a diffrence it will shut off because the factory temp probe will senceand shut down, causing the system to hang. I think if it artifacting it has more to do with the amount of overclock, drivers, voltage, than the heat..

Remeber everyones card is diffrent, and some overclock well and others don't.

The poster means that your Drivers may be interfering with your OC attempt. Below is a general description of what Drivers are:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_driver

To update drivers, visit the manufacturers website and search for available downloads for your specfic card.
  • Download the drivers to a location that you will recall. Unzip if needed.
  • Create a System Restore Point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Restore (this is in case things get messed up)
  • Navigate to the Control Panel > Add/Remove programs and remove the existing drivers. LOOK first! You only want to remove the Display Drivers.
  • Re-boot - The OS will detect "Found New Hardware". Close all automatic driver loading dialogue boxes (Cancel - or red X). Install the drivers manually
  • Navigate to the location of the new drivers you downloaded and unzipped, and click on the unzipped file. Follow the onscreen instructions (they vary).
  • You should be prompted to re-start when done.

Once you have the new drivers in place and you have tried out a game or two, then re-install Coolbits. First, remove it from the Add/Remove Programs, then navigate to the location you had the file (no need to re-download - I think) and re-install.

Try that out. If you are having translation issues, Wikipedia is international and you can change to language format to suit your needs.

NOTE: If Coolbits is installed correctly you will get the "Detect Optimal Frequencies" and "Fan always On" - I wish it was "Fun always On"

Members: Am I missing anything that should be added?

Post back with results if you so choose.

Good Luck!

Thank you Syrillian, I should have explained my self better.

I just remembered when you uninstall the old drivers coolbits uninstalls with it. So all he has to do is, uninstall the old drivers, use a driver cleaner to find some of the left over files left in the registry. Then install the new driver and then install coolbits. Then you should be ready to go.

If he does it correctly and it doesn't fix it.. I'm not sure what will...
