I believe you need to fix your masterboot record so you can dual boot then. Go to cmd and type in fixmbr. Should fix your problem but I could be wrong, I havent installed linux in some time

The easiest way is to burn the ISO to a dvd or cd. Forget if it fits on a cd or not. Check out http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn the iso to disk.

Then when you reboot keep the disk in and make sure that you boot from your cdrom drive before your hard drives in your bios settings.

With your laptop, are you using a physical disk drive?

If the Ubuntu disk is restarting your desktop machine from windows in order to boot from the disk, it will not work if you are using a virtual drive as the virtual drive only exists within the windows environment. You will need to use a physical disk drive or USB stick.

If Ubuntu installed itself whilst inside windows, disregard the above.

Well I can tell you are trying to install linix inside of windows, I'm not sure if that what you want to do or not...

If it is you should use something like virtualbox and use that to install it inside of widows.

I recommend installing it on its own partition first before you start dealing with virtual boxes. Looks like you have the BIOS set up right, first device = cdrom, second device = HDD.

Burn the .iso file to a disk put it in and reboot, it will ask you if you would like to boot from the disk.
