Hi guys, i have never overclocked anything before, so i was wondering if any of you guys with the same rig with same spec as mine and overclocked your 2600k and is stable, would like to help me get started... i would like to get the most out of the cpu but at the same time i dont want to over do it because i want this rig to last me a couple of years.thumbsupsmiley.png

Thanks in Advance

We are glad to have you.

I would suggest checking out this very thorough guide first, then checking back if you run into difficulty.

Uses the same motherboard that you have!

My advise, start slow. There is no race to get to 5ghz.

Thanks for the reply mate and i will defo take it slow smile.gif and i probably won't go that extreme and oc to 5ghz anyway thumb.gif

And a quick question guys, most of the overclocing guides i read said leave the bus speed at 100 and dont change it but mine is set to 103 by default so do i have to change it to 100 or shall i just leave it?confusedsmiley.png

If it seems stable, that should be ok! Keep in mind that is also going to slightly overclock your memory.
Initially, for stability reasons, id back it off to 100 until you find a multiplier that you like. Then you can push it back up to 103mhz to squeeze a few more mhz out of the CPU, and your RAM.

Change it to 100. If you dont plan on doing a high overclock there is no reason not to just use the multiplier. For a quicky and dirty guide:

Download prime95, cpu-z, and real temp.

Set your multiplier to around 43 and see if you can get prime95 to pass a blend test for around 10 minutes. Id no issues up your multiplier by 1 and do it again. When it starts freezing or blue screening (and it will) add some vcore and then try again.

How high do you want to overclock?

BCLK @ 102.3 - 102.5 makes a significant difference on my rig. I would HIGHLY recommend it.
