Audio through Monitor from PS3?

Thread Starter
Hiya,

My monitor has HDMI input and built-in speakers so I have connected my PS3 to it along with my pc. The monitor speakers are quite crap, so would like to channel that to my external speakers which is currently connected to my computer through one of those green 3.5mm stereo mini-plug cable.

Is there any way I can route the audio from my monitor to my speakers? It would also need to work with my computer.

I tried connecting the green speaker cable to the headphone jack on the monitor (lol!) but obv didn't work. There's also this line in/out port on the monitor at the back, I connected there but the computer didn't pick it up. Not sure what those are for, I'm no audio guru sadly.

Thanks in advance if you managed to tolerate my noobish-ness. frown.gif

plug the hdmi into your monitor, then use the standard ps cables for the audio. just plug the rca connections into your amp and your all set.
Just go to setting and audio and set it up.

I have mine set like this.

PS3---HDMI to DVI Adapter---Monitor (Display)

PS3--Standard PS3 RCA Cables plugged into the console---RCA Audio Splitter Adapter 3.5mm Male to 2 RCA Female Stereo 3.5 mm--Connect to Light Blue Line In Port in your Soundcard (Audio)

^ With your speakers already plugged into the Green Port, as usual.

Make sure to enable "Line In" in your Configuration in Windows.

Only draw back about this method, is you must have the PC turned on.
