TRIM is working for him. Since the SSD is not a volume member it has TRIM support when the SATA mode is in RAID.

Shouldn't it still continue to work even if its a volume member? I fail to see how being active in the RAID array has anything to do with it, considering the controller itself is still in RAID mode. It should still work regardless.

Not that it really matters, as M4's don't really need TRIM anyway. I verified that personally with Crucial when I was toying with getting a second one for RAID.

i have two raid 0 array which has two SSDs each, i lost trim, but as you said, it doesn't really matter, SSDs has BGC so no big deal

So my original point still stands nearly completely valid then. If he NEEDS the extra 64GB of space, RAID0 is an option he can consider without worry (other than the extra possibility of a dead drive). It won't really increase speeds noticeably (sequential...but that's not why we buy SSD's anyway). But it'll give him double the space....which in my honest opinion isn't really NEEDED if you do the proper steps when installing Windows (following Sean's guide).

TRIM is working for him. Since the SSD is not a volume member it has TRIM support when the SATA mode is in RAID.

he's telling the OP that he won't gonna lose trim, the OP/TS is going to actually put 2x m4 in raid 0 array, he will lose trim.

See my responses though. Our arguments are automatically invalid regardless, as the M4 doesn't rely on TRIM commands 100%. They help SLIGHTLY, sure. But the onboard garbage collection is more than sufficient. So the OP can feel free to run a RAID with M4's if he wishes...it won't harm performance at all.

thats what i exactly told you in my first reply to your post

Do you NEED the extra space though? That's the only reason I could see doing this, would be if you needed another 64GB of space, and you already have one drive. If so, then sure....it won't hurt anything. I've found absolutely no reason to even think about needing 128GB for my C: drive though. I can squeeze everything I need on a 32GB SSD honestly. On my 64GB M4, I've still got like 38GB free.

So yes you CAN do it. But only do it if you REALLY need the space. Note....games won't see a difference.

you will lose trim bro, but ssd has BGC, so losing trim is no big deal

trim originally was not avalable in raid 0 (i know for sure back in 2010 when i had raid 0 vertex), recently (i think late 2011) intel announced that it would allow trim support in raid 0

and everyone replied to you that no, TRIM isn't enabled. don't insist bro, there is no such thing as trim enabled raid 0 array as of today,
unless you can proove your claim which you can't, because it's a lie

how is it a lie? don't go making false accusations that I am lying. I provided a screenshot for a reason to show you it IS enabled. the speed of my drives have never decreased one bit. also how would you know anyway. ..

on my rig I have the sata3 configured to raid only.. I basically have the same setup as pioneerisloud except I have m4's instead.
