Ap-30's

am i forced to do a mod on these for the fan controller to work? cause i plug in the molex and screams and then the fan controller doesn't work.

FYI : Lamptron FC-8 which holds 45W per channel

and yet nothing happens when i turn the knobs. so i resorted to moving back to my Kaze 3k's

let me know so i can buy a sodering iron

What? confusing question is confusing. AP-30's work fine with a fan controller assuming all is set up right and the controller is not faulty. More info on how you hooked the fan and controller up. also, what plug is on the AP-30's? is it a 3 pin fan header or 4 pin molex? It should be a 3 pin fan header.

what do you mean set up right?

controller isn't fault works fine. i have 4 Kaze's on it right now and my Pump on one also.

its the 3 pin header but when i plug it in and turn the knobs it doesn't slow down or have any reaction.

i'll try just the pump and the AP-30 tonight and see if that works. thanks for your response

If im understand right your connecting the fan via molex, and then hooking the rpm wire to the fan controller. If this is the case this wont work, you will need to get a molex to 3 pin adapter, and power the fans straight off the fan controller.

Good luck on your second attempt. I know for a fact that the AP-30 and 31's work with fan controllers, they work great actually. The motors made no clicking or ticking that I could hear.

The red(+12) and black(gnd) wires control the speed, the yellow(rpm) wire outputs fan speed. Make sure the red and black are connected to the fan controller channel.

One other thing, if that isn't obvious and you have the fan connected correctly, then its possible the fan controller or fan is defective. Try other channels to test it and also check the fan wires, (could be wired up wrong).

ugh i'll look for one of those and see if that works. that will be my 3rd attempt

yes they should be able to work but i didn't get any adapters just 2 molex and a fan controller. i dont have any problems with the fan itself just trying to get it to work on a fan controller

thanks for the input. but only the yellow wire is hooked up the the 3 pin and nothing else is attached so i guess i will have to do some sodering if it comes down to this. i'm assuming there is only one way to plug in a 3 pin to a fan controller

You shouldn't have to solder anything? What kind of plug is on your fans?

so the fan comes with 2 molex and 3 pin (fan controller) only has the yellow wire on it

what i'm guessing is that i need a RPM fan controller?

You have a RPM fan controller, that's what the pots do through voltage control when you connect a fan up. Like I said above, [AP-30 side] the red(+12) and black(gnd) wires control the speed, the yellow(rpm) wire outputs fan speed. Make sure the red and black wires are connected to the fan controller channel.

You'll have to adapt the existing fan connector to make the Fan Controller connection. If that isn't your thing, then buy 4-pin molex to 3-pin cable, like this
