crossfire 7970 - BF3 ultra high temps

Thread Starter
So im just giving BF3 a wiz on a single monitor for now, nothing special, just a 23 inch 60 hz screen, and during gameplay my main 7970 is running around approximately 80 degrees Oo is this normal? they are reference cards and BF3 is on ultra but still? i wouldve thought crossfire 7970s could handle one screen on ultra easily, and i was planning on doing eyefinity on high graphics jees :-/ any confirmation or help appreciated

Please.. that was all sorts of unhelpful. I SAID i was just using this 60hz monitor in the meantime as it is my old monitor JUST to test settings and temps AND im getting around 80 for my main card int he crossfire. Please, read my post before replying..

Haha. Dude comes in here saying *** about your monitor instead of helping with your issue. Anyways.

What are you using to track GPU temps/load? Id say first make sure both cards are at equal load. Next 80 degrees is fine for this card. If you can stand a little noise turn up the fan and the temps will come back down. I run my 7970 at 1200/1600 at 65% fan speed and never see above 70 while playing BF3 on ultra.

Um well in CCC my first card is around 90% activity where the second card is 0, but crossfireX is enbaled? any idea on how to distribute the load?

Download MSi Afterburner. It will show you load and temps for both cards at the same time. Report findings smile.gif

your case is the problem (800D)

it is not designed for aircooling in mind.. see how many fans it have and how it work for a second wink.gif

go water or plan/design a nice airflow with a ton of fans and see the difference thumb.gif

I disagree. While having more fans would help with the overall airflow, 80 degrees is normal for this card, especially if its set at auto fan control. If he kicks up his fan speed on his video card a bit the temps will come down.
