How Well Should This Perform?

I'm planning on upgrading my cpu and gpu. For the processor I chose the Phenom ii x4 840. For the gpu, I chose the Radeon 6770. I have 4 gb ddr3 ram. My question to you guys is, how well should this perform on games like BF3? Should I get more ram? My budget pretty much limits me to the 6770's price of $109. My motherboard is a Foxconn 2AB1. It only supports Phenom ii x4 9xx and 8xx Deneb processors. I could get an Athlon x4, but I'm not too interested. Overall, I'm just asking what I should expect in terms of fps in most games. 40 fps and above is fine for me. Thanks thumb.gif

If everything is set on low in-game, you'll probably be getting 40+ fps with that setup.

That'd be a great setup. Maybe if you could throw in another 20$ for a different graphics card it would run that much better. I upgraded my friends machine from a 6670 to a 550ti Cyclone II and he went from avg. 38fps on bf3 low settings to about 52 avg fps. And it runs many other games great. I'm actually about to by the cyclone for my rig as well. 129$ 3.99 shipping on newegg atm.. Check it out biggrin.gif.. For your exact question tho yes, you should be running bf3 just fine unless your wanting some higher settings smile.gif

Save some more cash and for the moment stick with what you have, then buy an i3 2100 and a GA-Z68P-DS3.

I think I'll do that smile.gif I looked up some benchmarks and it seems to perform better than the phenom ii x4. I never thought that a dual core could be so powerful. But then again, it is a sandy bridge; I heard that they are quite special. Thanks! +rep
