Every person I have chatted with either on the internet or in person that has a Viao has some kinda problem with them. Sony tinkers around to much with Windows. They also have an extreme amount of bloatware.

I don't understand. If it was a driver problem wouldn't my Laptop work with Ubuntu?

It has errors installing Ubuntu and errors installing windows 7 and Windows XP and Windows Vista

Why would would there be errors in Linux during install?

If there was errors installing multiple different OS's, and the culprits listed in dumps have to do with HDD, it's possible a hard drive. Have you tried a chkdsk?

Open the "Computer" window
Right-click on the drive in question
Select the "Tools" tab
In the Error-checking area, click .

I want to say that the northbridge/southbridge/main components on the board are bad. That's the only way to explain the errors that are OS exempt

90% of most problems are SOFTWARE related...

The other 10%, when it's hardware, it's broken down by first checking each part to see if it's defective...

Obviously if it was Power Issue / Video Issues, it would be rather obvious, as you would get a black screen, or no power on, etc... (Though a black screen can be bad RAM too or a defective part, and even chip creep)

Can you run Ubuntu Live CD, without installing it?

If so, then check your hard drive by opening up the programs Disc Utility and GParted, both programs should be used, because sometimes one will tell you an error is there, while the other one does not.

You should check RAM, then HDD (not SDD)...

If you have an SDD, then it's best to simply do a destructive wipe and do a fresh install, SSDs either work or they don't, if it has errors then you will get the BSOD every time, though it's usually 0X00000050 or another code (don't remember off the top of my head)

Since you are having problems installing, I'd say the problem is most likely in your hardware that is not your RAM Memory Modules (since you tested them) and it's not your HDD, if you ran: "chkdsk c: /f /r" and it didn't come up with any errors... (e.g. Bad Sectors)

With that said, if you are trying to install Windows 7 on a computer that is RETAIL (something you bought at the store) and you are not using the "Restore Disc" then you will get the BSOD when you go to install Windows 7 / Vista / XP with a non-factory disc... (I know this is a fact, I've seen it 1000s of times)

You should use the Restore Feature on a Laptop using the F11 Key at boot up... (It can be Shift Key + F11 Key as well)

If you cannot restore the computer or you don't have the Restore Disc, then I'm afraid I cannot help you much. If it runs Ubuntu Live CD then the problem is most likely NOT hardware related, it's probably software related... (drivers are software as well)

If you can tell me more it may be helpful..
