Shared system memory with nvidia gts 450

Thread Starter
Hi guys, i just have noticed that my pc has allocated like 1780 mb for shared ram with my video card, is it really necessary to have that ram

alllocated to that use, or should i disable the shared memory through BIOS, will i notice any difference in performance in games ???

Cheers smile.gif

Shared RAM is not allocated. "System video RAM" is allocated smile.gif Shared RAM is ordinary RAM, unless the condition arises, where you don't need system RAM, but your vRam struggles. That's when (only then) the GPU uses the shared RAM smile.gif

Bottom line - that's the default state, leave it like that, it's perfectly fine and has no downsides. smile.gif

According to Windows, my Nvidia GTS 450 is 4095mb .. ( 3.999GB )
When its really just 1GB, I'd leave it enabled.. i've never tried disabling it, but you'd only notice a drop in performance if you were maxing out that 1GB on the card.
