Corsair Carbide Series 300R Build/Mod "The Militarist"

After seeing so many great mods, I finally have one I'd like to share also. I'll be modding the Corsair Carbide 300R. I appreciate any views or comments, and I also welcome good ideas.thumb.gif

Build/Mod Objectives:
- Cut out and install custom side window
- Mount H100's 240mm rad to the front of the case
- Sleeve PSU and other wires that annoy me. *Special thanks to LutroO for a lot of sleeving knowledge*
- Relocate HDD to 5.25" bay ( I am about to buy the Evercool Armor, it takes up 2 5.25" bays and holds up to 3 HDDs) I need to get my HDD off of my PSU.
- Install LED strips, maybe swap out my Scythes for Cougars, and a few other miscellaneous things.
-Custom paint.

I saw potential in this little case, and for the price I couldn't resist. A little modding here and there, order some 800D grommets and it's a $100+ case... This is just my opinion. The components were migrated from the 600T build. Work is underway, I'll update as I progress.

So lets look at what I've done to date...

360

Removed HDD caddy and checked how my radiator was fitting up front. Ha, that would have been nice if it lined up.
360

Had to cut the bottom to allow for the rad. I'll finish that rough cut with C channel.
700

Installing the front bezel covered fans.
700

The radiator is in and the front bezel on. I'm stoked it worked out relatively well, and my temps are better than in my 600T!

I am saving the window for this weekend, so I'll show you my sleeving. All 6 pins of sleeving that is, ha. I just need a day to get all of it done.
360

Topside of the 6-pin. I used paracord btw. Just trying to go with the colors on the mobo, I don't know if this will be the final color scheme or not.
360

Here's what it looks like installed.
360

Close up.
360

700

That's all I have to date. Sorry for the bombardment of pictures, I should have posted earlier. Anyways, I'll be updating by the weekend hopefully!

Thanks for the comments, and everyone who has checked out the build!

Over the last few days I have been brainstorming/designing my window. I have finally gotten a look that Ilike. I was debating rounded corners vs. 45s vs. square cuts. The rounded corners won out...
360
543

I labeled the rounded corners and the bolt locations. I'll be using Hex/Allen Head Bolts. I'll also be taping the window to catch the bolts, hopefully the threads come out good.
457

On another note, I extended the wire on 6 of my Scythes, as well as sleeved them.
360

I also installed the Vantec HDD caddy/cooler. (It is the same as the Evercool model) It takes up two of the three 5.25" bays. The last bay houses a Scythe fan controller and Silverstone 5.25" to 3.5" bezel.
360
360

I purchased a Silenx 80mm fan to replace the stock one in the Vantec. This little fan moves some air, and performs as its name suggests.
360

554

That's all I have right now, but I am headed out to the garage to start cutting this door tonight. I'll let ya know how it goes;)

Thanks again for any views, comments, or suggestions!

Finished cutting the door, as well as the plexiglass. I drilled and tapped holes, in the plexiglass itself, to mount the window. Still needs paint, but I'd like to go with a custom theme, so I'll just touch the cut edges up with spray paint until then. If anyone has an idea for paint on this thing I'm all ears. I have a black/green/brown color scheme in my head.

Anyways the doors doesn't lock in because the plexiglass is hitting a tab. Hopefully I'll have it in working order tomorrow, in the meantime here are some shots of the progress. Thanks for views, comments, or suggestions!

very nice. Maybe paint the new side hex bolts to match the front one ones?
Very nice mate good job on the window looks like it is factory made. Only thing I would suggest is stick to a colour Scheme and stay with it. You have a few colours floating around in there like the Motherboard cream colour and the graphics card cream color and then you have a Blue LED fan sitting at the back kind of doesn't blend. Maybe go with some noctua fans and a couple of white LED strips to give it a nice finish. thumb.gif

alfredo82: Thanks, and I am planning on painting the bolts to match the others.

Timbojones: Thanks for your advice and compliment, though it's far from perfect. I agree with you on the color scheme, I have chosen a few colors to stay with once I start painting. I will be installing Bitfenix white LED strips. The LED light seen in the pics came from an NZXT case light, it gives off a blueish hue in pictures. I currently am running Scythe Slipstreams model # SY1225SL12H. I would like to replace them with either Silenx or Cougar fans.

Oh and what do you think about painting the heat spreaders on my Vengeance LP RAM? I have thermal double-sided tape to reinstall the heat speaders properly, there would be a lot of hand painting...
