So one would hope that someone out there knows how to make the motherboard work. What better place to go than overclock.net ? So I do get it, just can't actually believe that it isn't something I have done. Was also hoping for some closure (someone else out there dealing with the same issues) perhaps even with some headway (ie. heard back from ASUS / XFX about this compatibility issue, even an ETA for the next BIOS revision etc.) ........

Dunno .......... Also knowing how much I spent to get this thing here, perhaps someone out there could actually say something really insightful concerning the issue. Like "bios update is expected to fix this compatibility issue in the next 10xx bios revision coming out ... "

So I think it is something that I "don't get", you "don't get" and frankly no one else does ... *crying*axesmiley.png

Not bugged these things happen, I know... But 9 years ago I wasted a year with a new AGP MSI card while I was the only one really beta testing... In the end I could only use the video card with hardware decoding disabled. Defeating the purpose.

SO a good thing to know is if anyone else knows anything ! ...

Yes, and to be honest I can't even say for sure if it isn't the graphics preventing the gen 3. All other systems I checked with were gen 2 I think. So now, I don't know where to check.

Your board has a plx switch to switch between the modes. Apparently it isn't working so good.

OK, do you know if this is common then ? How can I say for sure that it isn't interfaced incorrectly in the BIOS requiring a revision. Or is there a setting in the BIOS that I can experiment with ?

Since I have confirmed all lanes work with the card as long as it's set as gen 2. Clearly an issue with the board then ? I trust you but how can we get a more solid confirmation ?

It's not impossible for the pcie 3.0 issue to be the video card, I just haven't ever come across one yet.

Video cards are dumb devices, they just work at the max rate they can. You have to tape the pcie connector off to manually run it at a lower spec. The odds that it is a switch not functioning properly is much higher imo.

Alright well seems that is the best and only way to proceed. Kinda a joke if you ask me, the only reason I didn't go for the ROG board was because this one had a 5 year warranty somehow implying quality !? anyway

WRONG : new Sabertooth x79 board in the system had to pay full price.... !!! Same thing have to force GEN 2 !!!! Also the new board only can see half of the memory channels claiming the others are "abnormal" !!!!

Now I am really confused !!!! and more money wasted, time and energy.... If you are reading this thread avoid this combo it's not working yet !!!
