Redirected Profile SSD+HDD: Tried to clone data drive having problems

Alright so I have my windows install on C: which is my ssd and then I have a data partition (X:) on a 2tb HDD. I wanted to clone the data partition (only about 300GB) onto a new 1TB that I purchased. I used EASEUS partition clone and it looks like it did a pretty good job at cloning the partition. When I booted up the computer I unplugged the original 2TB drive and changed the drive letter on the new 1TB drive to (X:) thinking everything would be just like it was before. Unfortunately that's not the case.

Windows will load up and ask me to log into my account, log in name and account picture still the same but then when I type in the password it says it's creating a new desktop please wait. So apparently it's loading up a temporary profile because it can't find my profile. What's worse is I can't even find regedit or anything else at all (the search function doesn't work anymore) and I should've backed up my reg file frown.gif What's that about hindsight being 20/20?

So I unplug the new 1TB and plug in the old 2TB which doesnt have any changes on it and now it's doing the same thing with the 2tb. So that's pretty much where I'm at. I'm extremely tired so I'm not even going to mess with it tonight but if someone can point me to the right direction that would be awesome. I followed a few different guides on setting up an SSD with a redirected profile, unfortunately I don't remeber which ones they were. Any help would be appreciated. smile.gif

You mean you cant even find Regedit when you try to browse to it? should be in C:\Windows

Seeing as your cloning had nothing to do with your OS drive, If it isn't there you have something tampering with your computer (a virus).

Thanks for trying to help but I know this is a problem with the redirection and the partition tables. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix or should I just reinstall? I really don't want to go through all the redirection steps again with the SSD.

Regedit is Part of the OS, In the Windows folder. Why would redirecting have anything to do with that? You don't want to move any of the OS to another drive so it should be there.

Regedit is a non issue dude I told you that night I was too tired to even bother with it. School and work fulltime leaves very little time to mess with this. I havn't even touched it in 2 days but I need this system up so I can do homework. Maybe this will clarify things a bit for you. Like I said I have the OS on the ssd and a redirected profile to a data drive.

After an hour of searching I found the culprit. A bad entry in my profile list in the registry. Thank god I made a .bak of it when I originally did the profile redirect. So this solves my problem getting the 2tb back up and running like it was before. Gotta rma this 1tb it's really noisy for a new drive...
Edit: this still doesn't solve what I'm trying to do by cloning the data partition to the 1tb and have the system work off of that so if anyone has some input on that by all means let me know. Thanks.
