I don't see gamers using 6 2560x1600 because 99.9% of them can't afford it.

I read your post, what i mean by what i'm saying is that even 6 monitors in portrait (2560x9600) wont need 6gb or Vram when they are only used for business applications, the Vram use of those applications are nothing. Lately i've been having a lot of meting's with the Norwegian Army and there i see most of them use 3x 2560x1600 monitors, most of their systems are mid range HP/Dell builds so i would assume they had like 1gb of VRAM.

And regarding the 99.9% of gamer's i totally agree, that's why i don't see a market for a card like this, But i don't doubt that when they make it they will sell some ppl love going overkill.

WOW!!!! 6GB!
I think I'm dreaming here.

A 6GB single GPU would finally mean that a game like BF3 could be played at some pretty nice settings on 3 screens. Since dual card GPUs and Xfire set ups can only use the VRAM on one card, could you place a vanilla 7970 in the second slot for some mad crossfire me wonders?

With all the hype since the Saphire 7970e6 was rumoured to be coming out....I have placed a hold on my 7970 and am waiting patiently with an ancient 1GB card in my system for now. The wait had better not be in vain. If the card is not coming out then SAPHIRE & MSI should quash these rumours once and for all instead of us all holding on to our hard earned dollars when we could be spending it now!

The vram you have one all cards in crossfire must be equivalent or it will use the lowest denomination. So one 6GB card and one 3GB card would let you use 3GB. This is not needed for 99% of people but would be very very nice for multi monitor setups. Grab some of those cheap 27 inch ips displays people found on OCN and murder the bezels for some awesome gaming.

What are you talking about man? There HAVE BEEN 6gb 5870 cards in the past.

The rumor was that the lightning would be a 6gb eyefinity 6 card. Such cards have been made in the past, and sapphire is making a 7970
eyefinity 6 card with 6gb RAM and a rumored 1335mhz clock. I'm not sure if the MSI model will make a 6gb version, probably not, but 6gb on a
single card has happened and *is* useful for 6 screens on one card.

Don't have time to read through thread. What is the advantage of having 6gb at your disposal on one video card?
