Microsoft has taken their #SmokedbyWindowsPhone challenge to Mobile World Congress 2012, offering winners 100 Euro if they can beat a Windows Phone at a selection of tasks.

Microsoft Austria has posted the score board on Facebook today, and out of 18 contests so far, Microsoft won 16, tied 1 and lost 3, one photo challenge to the extremely fast camera on the new Nokia 808 and two translation challenges to HTC Android devices.

If I still had my Captivate, with swipe gestures and shortcuts and integrated social networking, I don't see how I could lose, aside from the hardware being slower than a new WM phone. People with a Nexus or a Note should be able to use their devices more efficiently than those results suggest. Also, I'd like to see it go against Meego, where's the N9 users at MWC??

Gotta love the math.

According to the image in the source, MS actually won 14, so that makes it below 80%.

Great, alright already, now help make the phones widely available. Sounds like they're beating a dead horse on this one.

To be honest i could not care less if my phone is 2-3 seconds slower than a windows phone at given task. What i care about is buildquality, size, design, the overall ease and looks of the OS on the phone.
Something.

What about 1 extra FPS in game? smile.gif

I am sure you can't beat Nokia's build quality and OS looks as well as functionality. So by the way yo describe it, I'd say give WP a try biggrin.gif

Nokia Build Quality vs HTC Build Quality.

I do believe the scale is tipped in favor of HTC. :T

I was going to edit my post and say unless it's high end HTC tongue.gif You are correct, HTC and Nokia are both good.

However, when it comes to a price point, Nokia lower end phones don't feel as cheap as HTC's, even their €189 Nokia Lumia 610 has a Gorilla Glass.

Only way I'd get a WM phone is if Nokia nostalgia gets the best of me
Really wish Nokia would make Android devices

Nokia's CEO said somewhere that there is no point on making an Android phone, what Nokia wants is differentiation.
