Not to sound like a dick but any SBE rig that can't max out bf3 at 1080p is fail. Buying a "enthusiast" level system just to skimp on the graphics department is just wasting money.

My 3dmark 11 scores also suffer. I cant crest 8300p marks even though I pull over 15,000 CPU score. I'm not a bencher by any means but I do like to keep my system competitive.

Once I sell my 460's Ill have spent about 325 bucks out of pocket, which is about single 560ti 448 pricing. Then I can turn around and have a 500 dollar credit @ EVGA.

Can you step-up through generations? I mean yea you can step up from 480 to 580, but 480 to 680!? You should ask an evga mod/rep or whatever 1st. If its eligible, save the conversation and buy 2x 480s, they are better than 2 570 duo to higher vram, if demand exists.

Two 480s are faster in terms of raw numbers. Coming from 480 SLI to a single 7970 though I can tell you that the 7970 is a much better setup. In my case I didn't notice microstutter til I dropped SLI but going back to a single card it's amazing how much smoother everything feels even with both setups running 60FPS.

Yeah, not to sound like a dick or anything but spending hundreds of dollars for %10 better visuals in a $40 game is fail.

But you are. Last time I checked, people might also buy SB-E for computation instead of gaming.

That's just 1 game... Many more that I Play besides that. Also the gain would be a little more then 10%...

And who's to say I don't do more then just gaming? Is it impossible that I might convert video?

Curious to why I'm catching shit for wanting to upgrade, this is a computer enthusiast site If I remember correctly and people drop over twice what I'm about to on video card setups..

I've seen 580's for sale on here cuz people are moving to 7970's. No one gives them shit because they are "wasting" money for a marginal upgrade.

If your happy with your video card more power to you... I am not. So I'm fixing it. Without spending top dollar for the new "shiny" cards.

I upgraded from SLI 460's to a single 7970. I like it.

With two GTX 480's you should be able to play it very smoothly all on ultra.

I had a second GTX 480 for SLI but it died on me sadly so I know and I never had any issues with them with BF3. frown.gif

ESP, its not a fail, beacuse a 7970 will last for 2-3 yrs. Plus it new tech. Its call future proof! 480 will be like a gtx285 in a few months.
