Yes, the OCZ's Vortex is a good deal.
For SSD's, read this --> http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-review-benchmark,3139.html

Just wondering if you changed your mind on the CPU cooler or the mechanical hard drive?
I assume you are going with a mechanical hard drive and a SSD. That provides the best performance. Music and Movies on the mechanical drive, Windows and (some) games on the SSD.

can you tell use excatly what do you have in mind till now i mean what conclusion did you come to ?? going witha 240GB SSD is insane buddy a 128 GB or a 64GB is enough for OS for storage you can go for a HDD
as far a 240GB SSD theocz vortex 3 240gb(pls confirm if its the same) is pretty costly rather then that you can go with these at less or same price and get better or same performance
SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256B/WW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive 365$(i feel is the best for money)
Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe 240GB 279$(best SSD quoted by tomshardware)
Hope that helped

16 Gb of memory feals silly to me. 8 Gb feels more practical, unless your running virtual machiens. But 8 or 16 Gb, both are good chocies...it's more personal prefrence.

I wouldn't call it silly for 8gb. In fact I'm on the verge of having to buy more because while I'm playing BF3 I'm hitting 7.5gb RAM usage and having to close some programs in the background. 12gb would be plenty but from my recent experience with what I do 8gb isn't quite enough
