[Neowin] Windows 8 Consumer Preview Download - Page 9

I just tried it out and spent about an hour in it. maybe it's just me, but I just don't feel comfortable in it. It seems clumsy, not sluggish since it's quite responsive, but just clumsy. Glad to be back on my Windows 7 machine! biggrin.gif

Ugh...tried it for 5 mins, then formatted that partition.

It looks all snazzy and I like the new UI etc...BUT, i dont like how it start doing loads of stuff in the background and links my login to my microsoft account frown.gif

next thing i know im signed into msn messenger and some old school friend is asking to hook up :S

where did our anonimity/privacy go!! FFFF***

when I have to upgrade im going to create a new hotmail/microsoft account and use it for nothing else...next thing we know microsoft can smack us down with some next level DRM on the torrents

I'm pretty impressed with the system recovery part. I replaced about 60 system files with older win7 files knowing that it would completely hose the system. Well, sure enough it did and crashed on startup. It rebooted twice as I was slamming the F8 key, then switched into a new system recovery mode. After about 5 mins it restarted exactly as it was before. I even did a search for all the old win7 files and they were deleted too. So far, I really like it. Very snappy and responsive thumb.gif

WEATHER

Is anyone else massively disappointed that they got rid of the weather background that move? I used to love watching it rain on screen or look at the beach on a sunny day, now its just a wallpaper :/

Also "BING WEATHER" Microsoft need to stop pushing bing, it will never be as good as Google.

And I find it very ugly that on the weather page you can see the side of the next weather slide "Hourly Forecast"

The fact that you have to manually click and drag the screen across is a bit weird, there should be button that switch between the different weather screens :/

CAMERA
Seems pretty good, hope there is some form of integration with programs like skype if they are installed

XBOX COMPANION
Not sure what this does exactly as I dont have an Xbox 360 here at work with me, Im guessing media sharing.

ACCOUNT LOGIN
I found that with the developer preview and also this consumer preview, after I had setup my profile and used my windows live login to actually log into the computer, if I logged out it wouldn't let me back in untill I reset my password...?

INTERNET EXPLORER
The fullscreen app version doesn't seem to work for me?
Accessing IE from the desktop works fine however...

FACEBOOK
I dont know how but it has somehow pulled my facebook friends into the People and Messaging app.

I didnt put my facebook password in... But it appears to be having trouble connection so perhaps it went and found my profile with my name.

Is it just me or do most of the apps not connect to the internet properly?

Exchange integration into the email app is great however
