EVGA GTX 560 SLI cooling options

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I have two EVGA GTX 560's running in SLI in a cooler master HAF 932 case. The card temps are fine. Primary card peaks at 91 on full furmark torture tests. During gaming I see it high 70's.

Anyway,
I have recently had some fan issues. One of my cards had a fan blade break off during a benchmark. I think a wire snuck up in there and broke the blade. So I had to take it out and it is currently being RMA'd by EVGA.

Now, the second card is making a buzzing noise from the fan at full speeds. I took the card out and cleaned it. Still buzzing. The first card was doing the same before the fan blade broke.

I NEED SOMETHING BETTER.
I am tired of the annoying buzzing and poor cooler setup of these cards.

Can you all please suggest some SLI cooling options. I'm willing to do water cooling for these two cards but have never done water cooling before.

So please give me some air suggestions and water suggestions.

If water, I'd only like to water cool my cards. Not my processor. I have a big cooler that works just fine. If somebody would be nice enough to piece out a kit for me I'd snag that up! I have a rear 140mm fan that I could attach the radiator to.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You can put a thermalright spitfire on both your cards, one going up and one going down. Unless you have a tall heatsink on your CPU, then you can only do one.

Interesting setup idea. Thanks for the reply. I do have a large CPU cooler tho so it may not work, however I have a large case so it may. Open to some more suggestions. I will have to measure to see if this option wild work. Thanks again sir!

Ever think about modding your cards? My 480's are modded with Antec 620's. I saw someone with a modded 560. Not sure if it was TI or not, but I believe it was a Zotac. My 480 temps max at 65, and my radiators are terribly placed and have terrible/stock fans. Just a thought.

P.S. Welcome to OCN. Post your specs in your rig so we can provide better help.

http://www.mts.net/~olynick/pics/PC/9800GX2-2HR03.jpg You could do something like this if you have enough room to permit it.
Those are HR-03 heatsink units from Thermalright.

Wow that setup looks sweet. Is that with two cards? Only problem is I have a sound card above my top video card so it wouldn't work either. And I think my cooler is too big for the first setup you mentioned.

Also, yes I has considered modding the cards with the water cooling. I posted a message in that thread asking a few questions about it. I'll post it in this thread too:

My post from the other thread:

I want to do the same thing with my two 560's. However, would it be possible to cut one of the tubes so that one cooler would go out and then into another cooler then out then into a single radiator then out then into the first card again?

So it would go:

Radiator > pump1 on first card > pump2 on second card > radiator. So making one closed loop system instead of two?

Any ideas? Will to try this. Also, is it ok to put one radiator above the cards? I would want it at my rear exhaust fan.

The mod that was mentioned earlier can be found here ... I plan on doing this mod in the near future ... ...

As for air cooling ... u can look at the Arctic VGA coolers ... they are very good products ... U can also check out the Thermalright Shaman ... ... Depending how much space u have between the cards ...
