work notebook suggestions

Thread Starter
Hey guys, was wondering if any of you could suggest a notebook for work. I'm looking for something light to carry around. Looking to log into work when I can, obviously wifi, need to get office on it, etc.

Main concern is portability. Trying to get the best bang for the buck. I'd consider a asus prime but I don't think I can install the software I have at work on it to be able to log in. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I personally like the ThinkPad T-Series but it seems Lenovo has a budget lineup out now
The Essential B470 14'' starts at $550
http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/essential/b-series/b470/

BUT If you wanted REALLY portable, the X Series....
http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/thinkpad/x-series/x130e-intel
Not as powerful, but a lot of power and long battery life for something so small.

If you do not want to go with Lenovo, there are other options I know of, I just find them best in a work environment IMO

I would agree with raidmaxGUY above, Lenovo would be my top choice and suggestion. But for something a bit different, you could check out the dm1z series from HP.

http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&series_name=dm1z_series

It has a low base price, which can leave you room to upgrade the processor to the E-450 (dual core 1.65gHz) for an extra $25 versus the stock E-300 (dual 1.3gHz). Also I'd recommend a bigger/faster hard drive which I think are reasonably priced. Just throwing out another option thumb.gif

Also, any budget you have would be nice to know, as some ultra-portables can get quite pricey.

I love the ProBook line from HP, tons of security features, reliable machines, huge range of options from $500 to almost $2000.

My Probook has been ticking away as a 24/7 workstation at home. Easy to fix yourself once you figure out it's not assembled like other laptops, no vents on the bottom, sucks air through the keyboard, and a matte screen.
