HP service is a joke - Page 2

As long as consumer continue to buy the low end of the spectrum of Desktop and Notebook products from ALL vendors, vendors will continue to find ways to cut costs.

This includes using cheaper labor in countries outside of your native land.
1. its out of warranty so calling hp is pointless. considering calling any manufacturer would be the most expensive solution to any problem.
2. you could've jumped on ebay and probably find a replacement for cheaper. problem solved in 3 days.

3. you could've just ran the old keyboard through warm water and let it dry and it'd probably work lol. cost $0.

I just saw you are in Toronto... there are over 20+ authorized service partners for HP that could have sold you a keyboard within hours of contacting them.
lol good read here =)

I only deal with HP for my Business Clients, at which point I think I get to deal with different people ^.^

Also when I get on the phone I tend to take Control and sound much more important than I really am (though I am the Sole Sales Agent and Client Services rep for our IT/Managed Services Company, so yah Maybe I am important).

Initial Hold time is whatever, not much you can do about that, the whole world calls HP cus they suck, and the products suck.

This reminds me of when my Ex Girlfriends Brother needed to replace a Sony Laptop Keyboard

They sent him one in Russian, which wouldnt work on the English PC lol, and we were totally getting ready to strip the Russian Letters off and replace with freshly Painted English Letters. suux

Sony tech support wasnt much better, they kept refusing to take it back, and kept saying it was the right keyboard based on his serial, odd.

He gave up though... If it were me, Id have had a new Laptop on its way for free haha. Did that recently here, Lenovo Messed up a PC, Ingram wouldnt take it back, so Lenovo SHipped me a new PC for my client free of Charge.

Im Very Polite, but within my politeness you can hear that I will gladly make an Omlette out of their faces if they do not obey biggrin.gif

Im glad you looked elsewhere for the keypad too, there commonly being sold online far cheaper than what HP wants to charge - infact, anything in HP's Parts Catelog you should be ok to order online elsewhere, just be careful with GreyMarket thumb.gif

Apple isn't any better. My macbook pro had the keyboard manufactures defect that has over 400 posts on Apple's own website. The cause for this is the strip wiring that is located directly under the battery. It heats, cools, heats, cools etc... and gets deformed rendering my keyboard absolutely useless.

Same story... They wanted 425 dollars because they wanted to replace the whole top case. Its one. single. wire. I hate corporations lol...

I had a similar incident with HP. My laptop all of the sudden stopped displaying anything, no boot screen, nothing. So i figured it was the LCD or graphic. I then plugged it in my external monitor and that didn't work either so i figured it would be the graphic card. Called them like 6 times to find out that they want to charge me $150 to fix it, so i said fine. Gave them my name, address, blah blah and the guy that helped me said that my address is INVALID, and such address doesn't exist (lol?). I told them that this is the same address that HP sent me the laptop in the first place (since i bought it online). He kept insisting that i my home address is wrong and that he can't fix it unless i give him a different address. So i gave them my work address, a few days went by and i got the packaging materials to ship my laptop to them but they spelled my name wrong, it was completely different person, both first and last name were wrong. I called them yet again telling them to fix my name because i don't want my laptop shipping back to me going to someone else. They ensured me that it was all fixed and i shouldn't be worrying about it so i said fine i won't. But when i actually got my laptop back and they "supposedly" fixed it, it was the wrong name AGAIN. And my laptop wasn't even fix, the same black screen happen. So i called them again telling them that its a waste of time and money to keep doing the same thing over and over with the laptop still broken. They were spinning me in circle so i said screw it and fixed it myself. The problem is that one of the wire connecting to the display was loose so i superglued it together and its working fine even now.

Moral of the story: screw HP, don't buy their crap, don't call support, save the hassle and fix it yourself.

Their business support is decent.
Though it seems that their "engineers" can't tell the difference between dead and stuck bright sub-pixels. thumb.gif
Either way, I got them to exchange my monitor with overnight shipping.

HP, Huge Problems. but seriously though tongue.gif eventhough your laptop was just out of warranty they could've still given you some good advise. A colleague of my dad had a similair problem only with the screen. He closed the screen while a USB drive was on there, dumb dumb dumb but still, he called HP and after like 2 calls they told him fixing it would cost about $350 without shipping included. So I told him I would fix it for half the cost. did some research (google for 5-10 mins) and found a screen for $70. Love to make money like that smile.gif
