Its been that way, but im guessing Microsoft doesn't mind prolonging the use of the Consumer preview. If you wish to check for yourself go to top right corner on desktop -> search -> type in winver and hit enter. Mine displays "Evaluation copy. Expires 1/15/2013 6:59 PM"

Metro is ugly! If MS don't release this for tablet users as a standalone OS I won't bother with it. This is an affront to my eyes and an insult to my intelligence.

I don't like what I see either. But I'm sure there will be cool shells to use.

They are trying to jump in where Apple clearly has the lead... the ipad.

I showed my gf windows 8 today and she just laughed and said 'no way, i'm buying the ipad 3'.

So basically windows 8, although much more friendly to non-geeks, will never be 'cool' like the ipad, and for us power users, it will just be a PITA.

Hope windows 7 stays supported until 2020.

And I find it really jinxing that the desktop is 'aero' but metro is... solid colors. It's like schizophrenic.

  • Download latest drivers from AMD website (Windows 7)
  • Run the setup so it unpacks them to C:\AMD then exit setup
  • Go to right sidebar -> Settings -> PC Info -> Device Manager
  • Go to Display adapters -> {Your Adapter} and right click on it -> Update Driver Software...
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  • Select your video adapter and hit "Have Disk..."
  • Hit "Browse..." and navigate to "C:\AMD\Support\12-1_vista_win7_32_dd_ccc\Packages\Drivers\Display\W7_INF"
  • Select "CW132104.inf" and hit "Open" and hit "Ok"
  • Hit next and let it install
Tada display driver installed tongue.gif Sorry if guide is a lil messy.

This worked great for me, still no CCC but MSI afterburner now detects the driver so I can use it to up my fan speeds thumb.gif Also I believe CW132104 is for 12.1, for 12.2 you'll want CH134393
