Help explain the difference Asrock vs Gigabyte

Thread Starter
I am looking for an all black motherboard I have found these 2. would I notice a real difference? I am not against spending the money on the gigabyte, but if I can save money I enjoy that also. I just want a gaming mobo that's going to work. Only using 1 GPU so I know 970 and 990 difference was more dual gpu related? any other real differences in these boards?

Does anyone have experience with either board?

Thanks

Ya one is $155 and the other is $90 thumb.gif

and there is a ton of things that makes the Gigabyte board that much more money....

More PCIE slots being a big one
Gigabyte being a "better" company (they are always priced higher than Asrock)
Gigabyte has 6 SATA 6GB/s ports

What else you need to know?

What other parts you going to pair with this board? (you have one card and never plan on doing SLI/CFX then the cheaper board would do the job)

What budget do you have?

I am not against either board... so you just need to spec what is going to work best for your system and budget... personally don't spend more money just get to a ton of PCIE slots you'll never use

Sorry don't have experience with that board itself... but I have enough experience with computers.

I was pairing it with a mushkin 120gig ssd, an ATI 6870 and a 960t. I have the budget for either board, just wondering if I would really notice the price difference since I wont be overclocking. I will only be installing 1 harddrive

Save the cash.... imo. Maybe someone will chip in but I would be surprised if someone has experience with both boards and can give you a review on the two.
Both boards have good RMA programs and a lot of people on here like both brands so I think you will be fine with which ever board you go with. a board isn't going to make a huge frames per second/ performance change.

I used the 970 extreme 3 in my brothers computer build. and thus far its a solid board.
