CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($123.60 @ DirectCanada)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master RR-H101-22FK-RA 30.0 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($18.98 @ NCIX)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($90.68 @ DirectCanada)
Memory: Mushkin Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($39.69 @ DirectCanada)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($79.49 @ Vuugo)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 1GB Video Card ($159.99 @ NCIX)
Case: BitFenix Merc Alpha ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ NCIX)
Total: $552.42 is actually 509.34$ with rebates and such + shipping

Don't pay too much attention to the prices. The mobo+cpu+cooler came in a bundle for 199.99$.

Mostly going to use it for Diablo 3 when it releases as well as some WoW+browsing and watching movies in the meantime. I already have a 500W antec psu.

-Will my mobo be okay for some light oc'ing?
-Is that the right kind of memory?
-Will all the parts fit in the case?
-Is my psu strong enough?
-I have a GTS 250 laying around, worth reusing and waiting for pricedrops?

Thanks

This is a great build if it's only meant for Diablo III and WoW. It'll be able to play Diablo III on high (for sure), if not ultra (assuming there's an ultra). The GTS 250 is still pretty good. I'm not sure about WoW (never played it before), but I'm sure it'll do at least medium settings on all Blizzard games.

if you don't mind getting the gpu elsewhere (if they deliver to your place) - i recommend this 2GB gpu . . .

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150563

and

i would go for a 1600 RAM. the cooler - well, like you said, is part of the bundle.

The extra VRAM is only beneficial when playing games on high resolutions, multiple displays, or using 3D. A 1GB 6870 should be fine for Diablo III at 1080p -- at least in my opinion it is. Also, since I've personally owned 2 different XFX gpus, I feel that I'm entitled to say I'd recommend against going with XFX if at all possible.

Yup. And also, if you're going to get a 6870 2GB, you really might as well go with a 6950 2GB. Really though, for a $550 build, your 6870 will be awesome.

after rebate - about $35. an extra gig to get you by far longer. but like the other poster said, may not be a good brand to go with.

I think for 159$ with rebates, im getting away with a pretty decent gpu. I can upgrade if ever i feel the need to later. Thanks for the input.

Everything else looks good? Case fit? My 500W psu will be fine for slight OC?

I know nothing about PSUs, but I'm going to hazard a guess that you should be fine as long as you don't unlock your 960T to a 6-core (yes there's a chance it can do that!) and OC it to 4.0GHz for 24/7 use. Again, just a guess. biggrin.gif
