64GB SSD for Netbook

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a 64GB (or close) SSD for a netbook. The netbook itself is SATA II but it may be used elsewhere so SATA III would be nice.

What is the difference between the Crucial M4 and the RealSSD C300? I have two C300s in my rig so I was heavily considering a 64GB version but BH and CDW have "discontinued" this product. The M4 is available for cheap ($80) at my "special" retailer. wink.gif

What are the differences between the above two in terms of performance and reliability? Have the C300s been discontinued?

Are there better alternatives out there for my netbook, such as the OCZ series?

The M4 replaced the C300 AFAIK.

Is it better performance and reliability wise or just a newer version?

It's hard to say the M4 is better in terms of reliability because the C300 never really had any issues. In terms of performance, though, the M4 is better.

The M4 is very reliable now, they had issues before but the new firmware fixed the issue. I ordered a 64GB one and it was loaded with the latest firmware. I'd avoid OCZ, my Vertex 2 hasn't given me any problems, its just they like to skew there benchmarks to give it performance it really doesn't have.

Not sure which is "better" or what, but I have an M4 in my Thinkpad netbook (SATA II), and the thing is blazing fast - couldn't ask for better performance.

I just bought an x130e netbook so this SSD is for that. I bought the 64GB M4 because it's on sale at BH Photo for $79.95 for today only.

Too bad these netbooks are only SATA II. frown.gif I wish there was a way to install a better controller.
