BC2 soundloop crash - Page 2

I can assure you it isn't Power supply I ran that power supply for almost 5 years and it ran my 6850 which was OC'ed and my CPU which was OCed very solid, although there are some bad eggs out there I doubt it is that. You could check for conflicting sound software.. i know that asus's blackhawk (or w/e it's called) used to cause all sorts of weird stuff to happen with my sound i uninstalled havent had a problem since.

I am the previous owner (Hi Mule!) and I never experienced these issues, though I admittedly ran a Xonar DG instead of onboard sound for most of the motherboards life in my PC so wouldn't have experienced it if it was the sound card. But I tested the on board fairly extensively in various games and situations with no issues.

Mule - have you tried disabling HDMI sound (from the 6850 - I think this includes potentially deleting some drivers). I've read about this issue before in some games. It's worth exploring as a potential option regardless.

Best of luck, and try the options mentioned above. You've got your troubleshooting cap on obviously, I'm sure you'll work it out if you keep trying. Stay in touch and I'll help in whatever ways I possibly can.

Regards, willibj

Uninstall the Catalyst then re-install with 6850 in the system. Do not just swap 5770 <---> 6850.

Cheers for the tip, all good now. Been crash free for a good few hours if you count idling in servers for most of it.
I've lost voltage control - is that right? If so do I need to look for other software? I don't really mind as my 5770 overclocked on stock volts like a boss.

Install MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 14 Download

Then enable "unofficial overclocking" HOW TO: Enable UNOFFICIAL overclocking mode in MSI AfterBurner

Afterburner settings > enable all voltage control.

I could swear I did see voltage control before disabling the low level bit.
I couldn't remember / find the text for the eula (excellent link thank you) so I just put in whatever and I was prompted to accept the official text on first run. I must recheck my config file!

875 on core ctd in bc2. WTH is up with these app/full system crashes from dice and PB? It's really bad!
825 is ok. 50C so I have a fair few volts I can play with if I can get them wink.gif

To avoid crash with Punkbuster while using Afterburner, you can try;

1. Enable "Low level hardware access" but the voltage control will be greyed out.

2. Or to rename "RTCore.exe" in Afterburner install folder.

I had this problem too.. and updating punkbuster and turning OFF MSI afterburner did nothign to solve it. I had to stop playing BC2 because of it.

Make sure "Enable Low Level Hardware Access Interface" is checked.
This problem mainly affects 6xxx users who also use MSI Afterburner. Either that or make sure Punkbuster is fully updated.

Exactly where is this stupid setting im pulling my hair out to find it.

I'll edit this with a screenshot later, but under setting in the main program. Only in 2.2 beta I believe! I was on 2.1 before.

Have you tried disabling audio on the mobo and gfx card? My mobo kept re-enabling it! Pull your soundcard if you have to.

I had to DISABLE this. Which is it to be?! makes me think that maybe it was the on-board audio on the gfx so I will try re-enabling this.
