Also, petty insults won't drive your point further in any argument.

I'm not insulting you. I just don't see where I even implied that I had purchased Sennheisers, as that's unrelated to the two Razer models I have and want to acquire.

Well how am I supposed to know your friend has a mid-range soundcard, that quite frankly is not enough for the HD800s anyway. There is a big difference between Megaladons and the HD800's. I had some Megaladons, they are lying in my cupboard with only 1 cup attached now and the quality is far inferior in every song. It's pretty much well known, surround sound is bad for music quality. You will always tend to have muddy-bass and too much of it.

Why would you listen to music in surround sound mode? That's what the 2.1 setting is for, well not entirely but you catch my drift...

If you've never even bought a sound card before, do you really think you're qualified to be judging what headphones are "amazing" or not, or whether a company knows their electronic designs? What's your experience with different headphones/sound cards?

Personally I can't see these headphones being much (if any) better than their previous headsets. That is, overpriced, underperforming products that will probably sell like hotcakes to anyone who doesn't know anything about audio hardware.

So say I wanted to upgrade to go for a dedicated sound card along with a set of HD 800s or similar quality, what card should I look at? All the reviews of the X-Fi and its various iterations are nothing less than beaming, and I'm not interested in an external audio amplifier type situation.

You would be looking at some external DAC, amp etc.
