[SB] Did water cooling help you get a higher OC or use less volts on your Socket 1155 CPU?

I was going to hold off on a loop till Ivy Bridge 3770k however I may do it earlier if it would help my OC at all.

I'm sitting at 5ghz 1.48v rock stable. Comp has been on for a month with realtemp running, max temp 66c. All power saving features enabled.

Would WC allow for a lower voltage or higher clock?

"or use less volts" this isnt relevant, thats totally based on the chip smile.gif

Watercooling is good if youve got the time and patients, oh and money. If you do it well, it pays off.. but everyone starts somewhere.

I run my i5 at 1.425v and it peaks at 64c, thats with a gtx 580 in the same loop all on a thin 360mm rad.

It's not going to lower the amount of volts that you need. It lowers the temperature so that allows you to push your vcore higher so the temps are not as bad, so yes, it kind of increases your overclocking ability. However running 5ghz at 1.48 it might not be able to make that much of an increase.

I'm assuming when you say max temp of 66c that's not stressing it?

Eh... unless you really were referring to that if he was a doctor, he would make more money with more patients.

Yeah, everyday use. In prime95 blend with maxed RAM goes up to 75-76 mainly because I drop ambients quite low during stress tests.

My bad sorry, marbleduck..

Why don't you say something constructive to the op and on topic? Not pick out my spelling mistake.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to having a silent machine, video cards sound ridiculous these days. Have you guys heard a 7970 at full blast? CLEAR FOR LIFTOFF CAP'N

I might wait till kepler and ivy bridge to set up a nice loop, I can't get myself to buy a block for my 570gtx knowing it's gone in a few months. Is it hard to take a water loop apart/bleed it?
