Windows 8 CP Vs. Win7 benchmarks on my 5.0Ghz Bulldozer

Windows 7 has both bulldozer patches installed. I just threw these together quick at lunch today with the just released windows 8 consumer preview. 5.0Ghz bulldozer 8150

Windows 7 results:
461

Windows 7 results:
300

Windows 8 results:
356

Windows 8 results:
278

The results seem to conclude, no real change to speak of.

BTW: The Y-cruncher came up with a message on Win 8 saying something along the lines of "I don't recognize OS, feature it is looking for is missing, will default to another algorithm"

window 8 preview, is very likely to have low performance. It likely has lots of debug tracing code going.

You'll have to wait for the official release before you make this judgement.

i think your chip is throttling. your gflops at 5 should be around 80.

I'm not sure how it could be, never exceeds 56 on core or 58 die. is there another Gflops test application?

no. the thuban gets around 78 at 4.3GHz. so, yours should be much higher.

I found this thread and multiple others.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1160071/why-does-the-amd-fx-have-poor-linpack-results/0_30

apparently it's a notoriously bad benchmark for the bulldozer, it does not have the instruction sets anymore that linpack uses.

And it's apparently built for LAPACK the sucsessor to Linpack.

make sure all cores are running under task manager and you should have sp1 installed.

they are, compare all the other benchmarks, 8.25 in Cinebench, 86 second 1.25GB Y-cruncher. It's just the Linpack instruction set.
