Read it. That's one place to start. When you are done with that return and I'll post another. You have no idea about human eye perception or how many "fps" a person can detect. It is entirely situational. It's not a set fps.

Huh? I have no problems hitting 120 fps on most any game at max settings...

It does give you a competitive advantage. When firing at a moving target, accuracy is much improved. Based on my experience, my k/d ratio increased and I found myself reacting much more quickly when in a one on one fight, more often putting rounds on my target much quicker and killing them before or as they let off their first burst of fire. This is in BF3 online. When flying in a jet I am able to spot and aquire targets while in a turning engagement and on ground targets much quicker and miss them less often. Accuracy when firing gun bursts in a turning fight are much more accurate as well. My 2 cents from experience.

absolutely right, it's so painful to the eyes afterwards lol, repped

If you decide to look into this monitor, you need to be running an AMD card that supports display port to get a true 120mhz

that's not entirely accurate.

i have an Nvidia GTX 570 HD, which has Display Port, and does 120hz perfectly. DVI-D will also do 120hz just fine.

the Samsungs have issues with Nvidia 3D.

op: 120hz is awesome. =) butter smooth. i can never go back. but you do need a vid card setup that can push it. with my card i tend to get 80-110 fps, which is great. next card will be even better. =)

Oh, trust me, i've read it, and many others like it.

Again, i'll leave you to your fantasy land where 120hz increases visual fidelity and, (this is the funniest one) gives a competitive advantage when playing games because of the higher refresh rate. I've been involved in these debates before, but you are so completely set in your beliefs that you somehow think blankets everyone's perception that it is completely pointless to waste any more of my time actually responding to those beliefs. Enjoy your 120hz monitor while the rest of us schmucks suffer with our ungodly 60hz monitors that are putting us at a disadvantage when playing online and also detracting from immersive gaming experiences because the visual fidelity just isn't up to par compared to a 120hz TN monitor. rolleyes.gif

@ above, What is frame time?

http://www.mvps.org/directx/articles/fps_versus_frame_time.htm

Basically there is a small delay with each frame. If there is 1ms delay per frame and ur frame counter displays 60fps you are actually seeing 58fps. In CF and SLI frame time increase. Sometimes even up to 25ms. Doing even if you get 120fps from the GPU you see only ~ fps. Thats why people say Single GPUs feel smother because they have lower frame time. So if you are getting 70-80fps with dual GPU even with frame time being a bit higher you still well into 60fps. If you are in low fps like 30-40 then you are sing ~ 25fps which is very choppy. A Single GPU @ 40fps will display frames faster then Dual GPUs @ 40fps. In the end its all down to architecture of CF and SLI, Games and most importantly Drivers. The stutter is created when frame time changes. one gpu does 2 ms ther other goes to 8ms.

What is frametime? And yes I'm being serious, never heard of it, or do you mean higher framerste?

Thanks for the info, I'm surprised I've never ran into his before as much as I surf these forums.

I love how you are adding words to my mouth. I never said a word about 120Hz making anyone a better gamer. My beliefs are based on scientific facts. You have provided nothing but opinion so far. If you had read it then you would know that even 120Hz is not the limit of human perception.

It sounds to me like you are butt hurt because you can't afford a 120Hz monitor, which really aren't that expensive... Take your trolling somewhere else and quit spreading misinformation.

If you can't tell a difference in ANY situation between 60 and 120 fps, then you need glasses. That's not an insult, that's a fact.

Every where I have read states that there is no competitive advantage over 60hz. Man I wish I had a link to back that up but that's what I have read. tongue.gif

he likley got you confused with an earlier poster that stated the human eye can only perceive 30fps
