Hey sup

Thread Starter
I used to be into OCing on my old Barton mobile and BH3 stix around 2004--did the kewl volt mods and everything, ran my CPU at 2.0v, RAM at 3.30v and had to use some loud ass Deltas to keep it all going. Also used to trade off all the low clocking stuff and buy/try again.

Well, I was out of the entire computer world for awhile but now I'm sorta back with a 2500K on a P68 board so I can try out some of the new games.

Overclocking was not part of the plan (got the budget LE mobo and some $20 memory, and the processor came from Craigslist kinda cheap) but of course I had to try it out just for kicks. After 10 minutes I managed 4800MHz with 1.25v on stock cooling, so I got hooked again.

I try to keep a clear head when I geek out on this stuff, having a plan and honest use for the extra cooling ($$) and not just doing it for it's own sake. Like, adding up the cost of all the heatsinks or other cooling kits, not to mention dead parts that I've killed and see if it equals the cost of the highest or next-highest class of hardware... yeah, sometimes a crazy OC is several times more expensive then it should be.

So far the only "OC money" I've spent is on a CPU cooler. I was looking for a D14, Archon or Silver Arrow but got too impatient to wait for shipping, so I got the best local option: a NZXT Havik 140 at Fry's---holy crap, it's not bad at all. I will probably post a thrad.. cause this thing can boot the 2500K+ into Windows at 5.32GHz. :X

Oh, I posted a BIOS in someone's thread for a voltage-unlocked GTX 560 2GB (from the one in my sig). I couldn't find one anywhere, so maybe this is the place to get it if you want it. biggrin.gif
