The 1200p is going to have a few extra pixels on the top and bottom of the screen, while the 1080p is thinner (vertically). Most things seem to be designed for the 16:9 1080p screen, as it's the standard now.

I went out today and looked at several monitors. Went to Bestbuy first, not much I was really interested in there. Then went to Intrex ( a small regional PC store) because they carry the asus 27" I talked about earlier. Only it was $319.99 plus tax ( about $20 bucks). I did like it a lot, and it was not too big ( which was my biggest worry). It was very very tempting to just buy the thing. But that's $90 above the refurb one at newegg. Anyways, I then went to staples, they carried at least as good a selection as bestbuy. I have to admit that the Hannspree HF255HPB 25" looked pretty good, and at about $170 plus tax, not a bad deal. The samsung's were pretty nice also. I then went to walmart (same parking lot). They had a 24" samsung for $150 plus tax. Now that was really tempting. But I went ahead and came home and pulled the trigger on the refurb asus 27" with the displayport. Unforchantly for anyone today, I must have got the last one......tongue.gif

Ironic, I was at Staples and BestBuy today too. Tell me how you like your refurb, if it's good, I'll consider it. I got set back a month or too, because I wanted new headphones more than a new monitor...

Guys, I'm reconsidering how much money I spend on computers, and am trying to figure out if IPS is really worth it. I guess what I'm asking is, how would the 23" Ultrasharp compare to this ASUS.

May 23 2012

Ended up with a ASUS VH236H, no problemos!
